Innlandet
Innlandet is a county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (the municipalities of Jevnaker and Lunner were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the second largest county in Norway after Troms og Finnmark county. The county name translates to "The Inland" which reflects that the county is the only landlocked county in Norway. Filefjell is a mountainous area in Norway. It is located between Lærdal in the Vestland county and Valdres in Innlandet county. It is the historical, as well as modern, main route, linking Western Norway and Eastern Norway. The European route E16 highway passes through Filefjell. Etymology Filefjell or sometimes Fillefjell, might be a double-name as "file" is thought to be derived from Old Norse word ''Fjáll'', the same root that evolved into the modern word "fjell".
