Blue Monday (band)
Blue Monday was a Vancouver-based hardcore punk band founded in 2001. Over its history the band consisted of Dave Mac, Kyle de Ville, Tony Patrick, Chris Pratt, Dave Mitchell, Jason Kehoe, and Adam Mitchell. History Blue Monday was formed by guitarist Kyle de Ville and vocalist Dave Mac in the spring of 2001. After securing drummer Chris Pratt and bassist Tony Patrick, the band wrote an eight-song demo which came out in early 2002. After a few short tours down the west coast, Blue Monday entered the studio again in mid-2002 and recorded the 7" EP ''War Wounds'' which came out in early 2003 on For the Core Records. Pratt and Patrick left the band, and Adam Mitchell and Jason Kehoe joined on bass and drums respectively. Adam's brother, guitarist Dave Mitchell, joined at the end of 2003. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Punk rock in California, Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant History of the hippie movement, hippie cultural climate of the time. Bridge 9 Records is an American hardcore punk record label located outside Boston, Massachusetts. Bridge Nine is owned by Chris Wrenn of Salem, Massachusetts, who began the label in 1995 and produced its first release in 1996. The label is named as a metaphor for what Wrenn wanted to do in creating the label: bridge all parts of the hardcore scene into one label and then put his lucky number (nine) in the title. The label currently has 8 employees and 30 active bands. In 2021, the label announced they were opening a record store. Champion (band)
Champion was an American straight edge hardcore punk band formed by vocalist Jim Hesketh and guitarist Chris Williams in the spring of 1999 in Seattle, Washington. History Jim and Chris formed Champion and after a few months of shows, the band released its first demo on cassette and went on a West Coast tour of the United States. In the early days the band was plagued with constant line-up changes, but in 2000 the majority of the core lineup came together to release the ''Come Out Swinging'' EP on Platinum Recordings (Germany). After playing with American Nightmare Timbomb suggested Chris Wrenn of Bridge Nine Records check out the band. After a couple of calls Champion joined the label Bridge 9 Records and recorded another EP, entitled ''Count Our Numbers'', followed by the re-release of ''Come Out Swinging.''
