''Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga'' is the second season of the ''Blue Exorcist'' anime television series, which is animated by A-1 Pictures. It is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. Koichi Hatsumi replaced Tensai Okamura as director of the series. The series aired from January 7 to March 24, 2017, on MBS's Animeism programming block. The opening theme song is by UVERworld Uverworld (stylized as UVERworld) is a Japanese rock band consisting of six members and originating from Kusatsu, Shiga. ''Blue Exorcist'' is an anime series adapted from the manga of the same title by Kazue Kato. It is directed by Tensai Okamura and produced by A-1 Pictures. It began broadcasting in Japan on the MBS TV and the TBS Television on April 17, 2011, the anime then ended on October 2, 2011. The series was originally scheduled to start airing on April 10, 2011, however due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the series' initial broadcast was delayed by a week. The episodes are being simulcasted with English subtitles online via Hulu, Anime News Network, and Crunchyroll, starting on April 20, 2011. Aniplex of America released ''Blue Exorcist'' on DVD in four sets, starting by releasing the first DVD on October 18, 2011. Blue Exorcist
is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. The story revolves around Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he and his twin brother Yukio are the sons of Satan, born from a human woman, and he is the inheritor of Satan's powers. When Satan kills their guardian, Rin enrolls at True Cross Academy to become an exorcist under Yukio's tutelage in order to defeat his father Satan. Kazue Kato
is a Japanese manga artist. She debuted in 2000 with a one-shot in ''Akamaru Jump'' before publishing a full series in ''Monthly Shōnen Sirius''. Following that series completion, she launched ''Blue Exorcist'' in ''Jump Square''. Biography Kazue Kato was born on July 20, 1980 in Tokyo. She has two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. Tensai Okamura
, born on December 13, 1961, in Fukushima Prefecture, is a Japanese anime director and animator. Okamura grew up in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. He is a graduate of Waseda University's department of science and engineering. In 1991, he changed his first name to Tensai. is a Japanese late night anime programming block airing on MBS. The timeslot was established in October 2006 with a Thursday night/Friday morning schedule, until April 2015, when it switched to a Friday night/Saturday morning schedule. In its current form, the block airs as "Super Animeism" and the hour-long "Animeism" block on Friday night/Saturday mornings.
