Bloodhounds Of Broadway (1952 Film)
''Bloodhounds of Broadway'' is a 1952 Technicolor musical film directed by Harmon Jones and based on a Damon Runyon story. It stars Mitzi Gaynor along with Scott Brady, Mitzi Green, Marguerite Chapman, Michael O'Shea, Wally Vernon, and George E. Stone. Charles Bronson appears, uncredited, as Charles Buchinski. The film was remade in 1989, this time as a PBS ''American Playhouse'' special (subsequently given theatrical release) starring Matt Dillon and Madonna. Plot summary Stackerlee (Mitzi Gaynor) is a country girl who longs to be in show business. A New York bookmaker Foster (Scott Brady) is hiding out in Georgia and meets her and the inevitable happens – he goes straight and she gets her wish. Harmon Jones
Harmon Clifford Jones (June 3, 1911 – July 10, 1972) was a Canadian-born film editor and director who worked for many years at the 20th Century-Fox studio in Southern California. He is credited as the editor for about 20 feature films through 1950. In the middle of his career, he became a film and television director. Between 1951 and 1969, he directed about fifteen feature films as well as dozens of episodes of popular television series of the 1950s and 1960s. Career There is apparently no published account of the beginnings of Jones' career; at the time, it was common for editors at the major film studios to work as uncredited assistant editors for several years prior to an initial assignment as an editor. Wally Vernon
Walter J. Vernon (May 27, 1905 – March 7, 1970) was an American comic and character actor and dancer. Early life Vernon was born in New York City in 1905. He was in show business from the age of three, appearing in vaudeville and stock theater; he made his first Hollywood appearance in 1937's '' Mountain Music''. Career He made more than 75 films, almost always playing a Brooklynese wiseguy and/or the hero's assistant. He was a fixture in Twentieth Century Fox features of the late 1930s and early 1940s; Vernon is seen as an eccentric dancer in Fox's ''Alexander's Ragtime Band'' (1938), where he appears as himself. Vernon freelanced at other studios after leaving Fox. Early life Baird was born August 16, 1943 Seattle, Washington to Eldon Baird, an aerospace worker, and Nikki Marcus, a future talent agent. Richard Beecroft Allan, Baron Allan of Hallam (born 11 February 1966) is a British politician and life peer. He was the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Sheffield Hallam from the general election of Thursday 1 May 1997 until the dissolution of Parliament on 11 April 2005. Edwin Max (born 23 August 1969 in The Hague) is a former Dutch darts player. He used the nickname Mad Max for his matches.
