''Blood and Diamonds'' ( it, Diamanti sporchi di sangue) is a 1978 Italian noir-poliziottesco film directed by Fernando di Leo. The film is very similar to Di Leo's earlier film ''Caliber 9'', with Italian film historian and critic Roberto Curti describing it as "a reversal of ''Caliber 9''" with the relationships in the film being contrary to each other. The cast initially intended to include Franco Gasparri, fresh from the success of the ''Mark il poliziotto'' film series, in the main role of Guido Mauri. Release ''Blood and Diamonds'' premiered in Rome on 17 March 1978. Fernando Di Leo
Fernando Di Leo (11 January 1932 – 2 December 2003) was an Italian film director and script writer. He made 17 films as a director and about 50 scripts from 1964 to 1985. Biography Fernando Di Leo was born on 11 January 1932 in San Ferdinando di Puglia. After briefly working in a Rome's film school Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, di Leo made his debut as a director as part of the omnibus comedy ''Gli eroi di ieri, oggi, domani'' with his episode titled ''Un posto in paradiso'' (). Following this Di Leo wrote several scripts for Westerns, often uncredited. This included work on ''A Fistful of Dollars'' and '' For a Few Dollars More''. Some of his Westerns had uncredited literary sources, such as '' Days of Vengeance'' which as loosely based on Alexandre Dumas' '' The Count of Monte Cristo''. Olga Karlatos ( el, Όλγα Καρλάτου; born Olga Vlassopulos, April 20, 1945) is a retired Greek actress and Bermudian lawyer, known primarily for performing in Italian horror cinema. Career Between the end of the sixties and the early seventies, Karlatos had a short career as a singer, recording an EP and some singles in French and Italian, including the theme song of the drama '' Eneide'' of which she starred as Dido, the legendary queen of Carthage.
