Blood Quantum (film)
''Blood Quantum'' is a 2019 Canadian horror film written, directed, and edited by Jeff Barnaby and starring Michael Greyeyes, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Forrest Goodluck, Kiowa Gordon, Brandon Oakes, Olivia Scriven, Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs, and Gary Farmer. The film depicts the effects of a zombie uprising on a First Nations reserve whose residents are immune to contracting the plague because of their indigenous heritage, but must still cope with the consequences of its effects on the world around them, including white refugees seeking shelter on the reserve. Jeff Barnaby
Jeff Barnaby (1976 – 13 October 2022) was a Canadian film director, writer, composer, and film editor. He is known for his horror films ''Rhymes for Young Ghouls'' and ''Blood Quantum''. Early life Barnaby was born on a Mi'kmaq reserve in Listuguj, Quebec, in 1976. He graduated from both the Dawson College and Concordia University film programs. Career Barnaby began his career directing short films. Barnaby's short film ''From Cherry English'' won two Golden Sheaf Awards: Best Aboriginal and Best Videography in the 2004 Yorkton Film Festival. Listuguj Miꞌgmaq First Nation
The Listuguj Mi'gmaq First Nation (french: Première Nation de Listuguj Mi'gmaq) (in Francis-Smith orthography Listukuj Míkmaq) is a Mi'gmaq First Nations band government with a registered population (2022) of 4,248 members, most of whom are of Mi'kmaq ancestry. The name ''Listuguj'', is the origin for the name of the Restigouche River, as well as other nearby places also carrying the name Restigouche. Listuguj is also used as a name for one of the Míkmaq orthographies. Its southern border is adjacent to Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec. Tanner Zipchen is a Canadian actor and host. From 2015 to 2020 he was the host of the Pre-Show for Cineplex Entertainment. Career In 2015, Zipchen applied to an open casting call from Canadian theatre chain Cineplex to host their pre-show; a series of short games and interviews played in front of movies at Cineplex theatres.
