Bles Bridges
Bles Bridges (22 July 1946, in Viljoensdrif, Orange Free State – 24 March 2000, near Bloemhof, North West), born Lawrence John Gabriel Bridges, was a South African singer. He became known as Bles Bridges, as his Irish grandfather called him "Bles" (meaning "bald" in Afrikaans), due to his very thin hair from an early age. Married to Leonie Bridges from 1969 until his death on 24 March 2000, he also had a long-term relationship with Marietjie van Heerden in the 90s. He made his 1st album in 1972 under the nickname, Morné with a lady called Mimi van Heerden, called, Adios, my skat. He released his first solo album in 1982, ''Onbekende Weermagman'' (Unknown Soldier). His professional career began in 1984, with the release of his second album, ''Bles'', which went gold in under a month (25,000 copies) and included ''Maggie'', one of his better-known songs. Bloemhof
Bloemhof is an agricultural town of about 2,000 inhabitants situated on the banks of the Vaal River in North West Province (South Africa), North West Province of South Africa. History It was founded in August 1864 when diamonds were discovered in the area. The town was established on the farm owned by John Barclay (Birkenhead), John Barclay, who survived the HMS Birkenhead (1845), HMS Birkenhead shipwreck in 1852. The place became known as Bloemhof ''(flower court)'' because of the lovely gardens that were planted by Barclay's daughter. In June 1869, the South African Republic's ''Volksraad of the South African Republic, Volksraad'' created a new district called ''Bloemhof'' named after the town itself. Currently Bloemhof has a variety of social milieus; it has a township called Boitumelong and former coloured residence called Coverdale. Sun City is a luxury resort and casino, situated in the North West Province of South Africa. It is located between the Elands River and the Pilanesberg, about 140 km northwest of Johannesburg, near the city of Rustenburg. The complex borders the Pilanesberg National Park. It is made up of a number of themed sub-resorts with hotels on each, including the original Sun City Resort, ''The Cabanas'', ''The Cascades'' and the ''Lost City'' (The Palace). North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng and south of Botswana. History North West was incorporated after the end of Apartheid in 1994, and includes parts of the former Transvaal Province and Cape Province, as well as most of the former bantustan of Bophuthatswana.
