Blanc Chun-Pong Wan (Chinese: 尹俊邦) is a Hong Kong born classical pianist and writer. Biography Blanc Wan is a pianist, musicologist and educator. His recitals and radio appearances have included over a hundred performances across Europe, Asia, USA and throughout the United Kingdom. He is a governor of the Royal Northern College of Music. Blanc Wan holds fellowships from the Royal Society of Arts, Royal Schools of Music, London College of Music, and Trinity College of Music. He was elected as a Young Steinway Artist in 2011. Musicologist
Musicology (from Greek μουσική ''mousikē'' 'music' and -λογια ''-logia'', 'domain of study') is the scholarly analysis and research-based study of music. Musicology departments traditionally belong to the humanities, although some music research is scientific in focus (psychological, sociological, acoustical, neurological, computational). Some geographers and anthropologists have an interest in musicology so the social sciences also have an academic interest. A scholar who participates in musical research is a musicologist. Musicology traditionally is divided in three main branches: historical musicology, systematic musicology and ethnomusicology. The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is a conservatoire located in Manchester, England. It is one of four conservatoires associated with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. In addition to being a centre of music education, RNCM is one of the UK's busiest and most diverse public performance venues. History The RNCM has a history dating back to the 19th century and the establishment of the Royal Manchester College of Music (RMCM). In 1858, Sir Charles Hallé founded the Hallé orchestra in Manchester, and by the early 1890s had raised the idea of a music college in the city. The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) is an examination board and registered charity based in the United Kingdom. London College of Music (LCM) is a music school in London, England. It is one of eight separate schools that make up the University of West London. History LCM was founded in 1887 and existed as an independent music conservatoire based at Great Marlborough Street in central London until 1991. The college then moved to Ealing and became part of the Polytechnic of West London (which became Thames Valley University and was renamed the University of West London in 2011).
