Blackrock–Glen Rovers Hurling Rivalry
The Blackrock–Glen Rovers rivalry is a hurling rivalry between Cork city club teams Blackrock and Glen Rovers. It is considered to be one of the biggest rivalries in Cork hurling. Blackrock and Glen Rovers first played a senior championship match on 25 April 1926; as of October 2020, the two clubs have faced each other 39 times in total. Blackrock have won 19 and Glen Rovers have won 17, with three ending in a draw. Regarded as two of Cork club hurling's "big three", with St Finbarr's making up the trio, a county final between "the Rockies" and "the Glen" is historically regarded as a special occasion. The Cork Intermediate A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Intermediate A Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork IAHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the second tier intermediate clubs in the county of Cork in Ireland. It is the fourth tier overall in the entire Cork hurling championship system. The Cork Intermediate Championship was introduced in 1909 as a competition that would bridge the gap between the senior grade and the junior grade. At the time of its creation it was the second tier of Cork hurling. In its soon-to-be introduced format, the Cork Intermediate A Championship will begin in April. Din Joe Buckley
Denis Joseph "Din Joe" Buckley (19 March 1919 – 8 October 2009) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-back for the Cork senior team. Buckley made his first appearance for the team during the 1940 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1949 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medal, four Munster medals and two National League medals. Buckley was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Buckley was an eight-time county club championship medalist with Glen Rovers. His brother Connie was an All-Ireland-winning captain and another brother, Jack, was an All-Ireland medalist as a non-playing substitute in 1942. Dan Moylan
Daniel Joseph Moylan (22 November 1915 – 20 February 1992), known as Cooper Moylan, was an Irish hurler who played for Cork Senior Championship club Glen Rovers. He was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team at various times and usually lined out as a forward. Career Moylan first came to prominence as a hurler during his schooldays at the North Monastery. He was on "the Mon" Harty Cup-winning teams in 1934 and 1935. At club level Moylan was one of the stalwarts of the Glen Rovers team and won seven consecutive County Senior Championship titles. He also enjoyed championship success with the St. Nicholas' club as a Gaelic footballer. After an unsuccessful one-year tenure with the Cork minor hurling team in 1933, Moylan joined the senior team in 1938. His three seasons with the team saw him win two National League titles and a Munster Championship medal as a reserve. Cork Senior Hurling Team
The Cork county hurling team represents Cork in hurling and is governed by Cork GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League.
