Björn Joppien (born January 30, 1981) is a male badminton player from Germany. Career Joppien played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Kasperi Salo of Finland in the first round. In the round of 16, Joppien was defeated by Ronald Susilo of Singapore. In 2007 Joppien won the Men's Singles at the German National Badminton Championships The German National Badminton Championships is a tournament organized to crown the best badminton players in Germany. Langenfeld ( Ripuarian: ''Langefääl'') is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) in the district of Mettmann. The suburban city is located between Düsseldorf and Cologne. Ronald Susilo
Ronald Susilo (; born 6 June 1979) is a Singaporean former badminton player. Susilo was ranked sixth, his highest ranking, in 2004. Susilo started his badminton career at age 19 and had represented Singapore since 2002. He had represented Singapore in two Olympics, the 2004 and the 2008 Summer Olympics and was the flag-bearer for Singapore at the 2004 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. He retired in 2010 before coming out of retirement in 2014 to participate in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. Early life Susilo studied at the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) located in Dover, Singapore for his secondary education under a scholarship.
