Sherri Rose
Sherri Rose is an American biostatistician. She is an associate professor of health care policy at Stanford University, having formally worked at Harvard University. A fellow of the American Statistical Association, she has served as co-editor of ''Biostatistics'' since 2019 and Chair of the American Statistical Association’s Biometrics Section. Her research focuses on statistical machine learning for health care policy. Early life and education Rose was born and raised in poverty and home violence in Southern New Jersey. She was evicted twice as a child and would often go to bed hungry. Following high school, she attended George Washington University for her Bachelor of Science degree in statistics and the University of California, Berkeley for her PhD in Biostatistics. ''Biometrika'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Oxford University Press for thBiometrika Trust The editor-in-chief is Paul Fearnhead (Lancaster University). The principal focus of this journal is theoretical statistics. It was established in 1901 and originally appeared quarterly. It changed to three issues per year in 1977 but returned to quarterly publication in 1992. History ''Biometrika'' was established in 1901 by Francis Galton, Karl Pearson, and Raphael Weldon to promote the study of biometrics. The history of ''Biometrika'' is covered by Cox (2001). The name of the journal was chosen by Pearson, but Francis Edgeworth insisted that it be spelt with a "k" and not a "c". Since the 1930s, it has been a journal for statistical theory and methodology. It encompasses the design of biological experiments, the collection and analysis of data from those experiments and the interpretation of the results. Peter Diggle
Peter John Diggle, (born 24 February 1950, Lancashire, England) is a British statistician. He holds concurrent appointments with the Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University, and the Institute of Infection and Global Health at the University of Liverpool. From 2004 to 2008 he was an EPSRC Senior Research Fellow. He is one of the founding co-editors of the journal ''Biostatistics''. Previously, he has held positions at Newcastle University, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australia. The ''Journal of the Royal Statistical Society'' is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of statistics. It comprises three series and is published by Wiley for the Royal Statistical Society. History The Statistical Society of London was founded in 1834, but would not begin producing a journal for four years. From 1834 to 1837, members of the society would read the results of their studies to the other members, and some details were recorded in the proceedings.
