Billy Wooldridge
William Thomas Wooldridge (19 August 1878 – 1945) was an English footballer who spent nearly his entire career with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Career Wooldridge played for Wednesbury Old Athletic during its successful 1899–1900 campaign and was a key member of the side that won the Walsall & District League championship, the Staffordshire Junior Cup and the Walsall Junior Cup, as well as being beaten finalists in the Wolverhampton Junior Cup. He scored both goals in the Walsall Cup success v Wednesbury St John's and scored the decisive second goal in a 2–0 victory over Hednesford Swifts on the last day of the season, which enabled Wednesbury to take the title, finishing a point ahead of Hednesford Town. He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in May 1900, before making his first team debut on Boxing Day 1900 in a 1–1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. Netherton, West Midlands
Netherton is an area of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, south of Dudley town centre in the West Midlands of England, but historically in Worcestershire. Part of the Black Country, Netherton is bounded by nature reserves to the east and west, and an industrial area and the Dudley Southern By-Pass to the north. History Early history Netherton means "lower farm" in Old English (the corresponding upper farm may have been Dudley itself). Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Croydon Common Athletic Ground, commonly referred to as the Nest, was a association football, football stadium in Selhurst, south London. The original occupiers of the ground were Croydon Common F.C., the Robins, who occupied it from 1908 to 1917. It was also the home ground of Crystal Palace F.C. from 1918 until 1924.
