Billings Logan International Airport
Billings Logan International Airport is in the western United States, northwest of downtown Billings, in Yellowstone County, Montana. It is the second largest airport in Montana, having been surpassed in recent years by Bozeman in both number of gates as well as annual enplanements. Owned by the city of Billings, the airport is on top of the Rims, a cliff overlooking the downtown core, and covers of land. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a ''primary commercial service'' airport (more than 10,000 enplanements per year). Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 387,368 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2013, 388,329 in 2010 and 397,073 in 2009. Billings is the largest city in the U.S. state of Montana, with a population of 117,116 as of the 2020 census. The Douglas DC-7 is an American transport aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1953 to 1958. A derivative of the DC-6, it was the last major piston engine-powered transport made by Douglas, being developed shortly after the earliest jet airliner—the de Havilland Comet—entered service and only a few years before the jet-powered Douglas DC-8 first flew in 1958. Unlike other aircraft in Douglas's line of propeller-driven aircraft, no examples remain in service in the present day, as compared to the far more successful DC-3 and DC-6. The Douglas DC-6 is a piston-powered airliner and cargo aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958. Originally intended as a military transport near the end of World War II, it was reworked after the war to compete with the Lockheed Constellation in the long-range commercial transport market. More than 700 were built and many still fly in cargo, military, and wildfire control roles. The Lockheed Model 10 Electra is an American twin-engined, all-metal monoplane airliner developed by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in the 1930s to compete with the Boeing 247 and Douglas DC-2. The type gained considerable fame as one was flown by Amelia Earhart on her ill-fated around-the-world expedition in 1937. Design and development Some of Lockheed's wooden designs, such as the Orion, had been built by Detroit Aircraft Corporation with metal fuselages. Park City, Montana
Park City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stillwater County, Montana, United States. The population was 870 at the 2000 census. Located 20 miles from the state's largest city, Billings, Park City has a small town atmosphere. The largest building in the city is Park City Schools, a K-12 education system. The school's mascot is the panther and school colors are red and black. It is not incorporated, therefore does not have a mayor or any other "city" legislative positions.
