The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Biggar was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. This former constituency, located in west central Saskatchewan, has an economy based primarily on mixed farming and alfalfa production, and oil production. Biggar is home to Prairie Malt Ltd. (the first malt plant in Saskatchewan) and is situated in the heart of Canada's prime barley-growing region. The Miller Western Palo Salt Mine is located 27 km west of Biggar. The 25 staff members produce sodium sulfate for shipping throughout Canada and the central United States. The major communities are Biggar (2,243), Wilkie (1,282) and Langham (1,145). Martensville was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada, named after the city of Martensville, located north of Saskatoon. The electoral district was created through the ''Representation Act, 2002'' (Saskatchewan), mostly out of the former constituency of Rosthern. The city of Warman was also located in the riding. Smaller communities in the district included the towns of Hague, Waldheim, Osler, and Dalmeny; and the village of Hepburn. The constituency was abolished for the 2016 election. Cut Knife-Turtleford is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in northwest Saskatchewan, this constituency has an economy based primarily on farming – while oil and gas development is rising. The Battlefords Provincial Park is located here. 2016 Saskatchewan General Election
The 2016 Saskatchewan general election, was held on April 4, 2016, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Lieutenant Governor dissolved the Legislature on March 8, 2016, setting the election date for April 4. The election resulted in the Saskatchewan Party winning its third majority government. This is the first time in 90 years that a party other than the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) or its predecessor, the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) has won three consecutive majority governments in Saskatchewan. It is also the first time that a centre-right party has won three consecutive elections in the province. Randy Weekes
Randall Percival Weekes (born 1956) is a Canadian provincial politician. He is the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Biggar-Sask Valley, after first being elected in 1999. When the Saskatchewan Party won the 2007 election Weekes was appointed as the government whip. He served in several other positions throughout the 26th, 27th, and 28th legislatures, including a stint in cabinet from 2012 to 2014. Following the 2020 general election, Weekes was elected as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. Weekes has attended anti-abortion March for Life rallies in both Regina and Ottawa.
