Big Wheel Recreation
Big Wheel Recreation was an independent record label based in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was formed in the fall of 1994 by Rama Mayo and Dickie Cummings. Started as a hobby, Big Wheel became a fully functioning record label in 1999. The label took a hiatus from releasing records sometime in 2004 until September 23, 2015, when it released an audiobook version of Hyena by Jude Angelini. Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Indies release rock, soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, hip hop, and world music. In My Eyes (band)
In My Eyes was an American, Boston, Massachusetts-based, straight edge band, that spearheaded the 1997 youth crew revival along with Follow Through, Ten Yard Fight, Bane, The Trust, Fastbreak and Floorpunch. The band and its members were a part of the hot bed that was the Boston music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Members of the band also played in The Explosion, Fastbreak, and Panic. In My Eyes played their last show in October 2000, commemorating the second National Edge Day. The band was named after the Minor Threat song. Six Going On Seven was an indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. Members included Josh English (vocals/bass), James Bransford (guitar) and Will Bartlett (drums). Six Going on Sevenat Allmusic During their career they recorded three full-length albums and a handful of 7" singles. They were included on a number of compilations and had a song in the movie ''The Station Agent''. They toured with Elliott and put out a split EP with Hot Water Music. Seafood (band)
Seafood were a UK band formed in London around 1996. The line-up included chief songwriter David Line (vocals, guitar), Caroline Banks (drums and backing vocals) and Kevin Penney (guitars) who joined the band following the departure of founder-member Charles MacLeod. Bassist and founder member Kevin Hendrick left the group to join Pre/Male Bonding following the recording of their fourth album '' Paper Crown King'' in 2006, and was not permanently replaced. Cahir O'Doherty, from Fighting with Wire and Jetplane Landing, played bass on numerous tours. River City High
River City High is an American Rock music, rock band from Richmond, Virginia, United States. Like many Richmond Punk rock, punk bands, they incorporate other influences into their music, specifically classic rock. They formed out of the bands Fun Size (band), Fun Size and Inquisition (punk band), Inquisition, the latter also including members who would form Strike Anywhere and Ann Beretta. They released their debut EP in 2000 on Big Wheel Recreation, and quickly signed to Doghouse Records thereafter. Piebald (band)
Piebald is an American rock band. Piebald started as a hardcore punk band in Andover, Massachusetts, out of the same scene that produced Converge and Cave In. Originally a key Massachusetts post-hardcore band often seen touring with fellow DIY hardcore bands such as Jesuit, Reversal of Man, and Harvest during the mid to late 1990s, they later moved to the Boston suburb of Somerville and became a staple of the Greater Boston indie rock scene. No Knife
No Knife was a band from San Diego, California. They played an innovative form of rock that combined aspects of math rock, post-hardcore, and other indie rock. The band's original lineup was Mitch Wilson (vocals/guitar), Brian Desjean (bass), Aaron Mancini (guitar/vocals), and Ike Zaremba (drums). Prior to their second full-length, the band replaced Mancini with Ryan Ferguson (guitar/vocals). After their first and second full-lengths, '' Drunk on the Moon'' (1996) and '' Hit Man Dreams'' (1997), Chris Prescott was enlisted to play drums. The group went on to release two more full-lengths: '' Fire in the City of Automatons'' (1999) and '' Riot for Romance!'' (2002). No Knife often toured with Jimmy Eat World. Nathan Larson (musician)
Nathan Peter Larson (born September 12, 1970) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and author. He came to prominence in the 1990s as the guitarist for the rock group Shudder to Think. He has since worked on many film score compositions. He is married to Nina Persson, the lead singer of the Swedish rock band The Cardigans, and the couple have collaborated on several musical projects. Larson is responsible for arranging 12-hour experimental music concert events, and is one of the founders of the LUMEN PROJECT. In May 2011, Larson's debut novel, '' The Dewey Decimal System'', was published by Akashic Books. The second book in the series was published summer 2012, and is entitled ''The Nervous System.'' Jude Anthony Angelini (born 1977), also known as Rude Jude, is an American radio and television personality and author. He is best known for his radio show The All Out Show that has broadcast on SiriusXM satellite radio's Shade 45 since 2005. Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Mesa, Arizona. Jejune
Jejune was an American rock band formed in 1996 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The band has been commonly identified with the emo genre, and was heavily involved with the scene at the peak of the "second wave" of emo in the mid-1990s. The three founding members, Arabella Harrison (Bass/Vocals), Joe Guevara (Guitar/Vocals) and Chris Vanacore (Drums), met while studying at the college.
