Big Run (video Game)
is a rally racing arcade video game released by Jaleco in 1989. Rendered in 3D, the game is the first to be set in the Paris-Dakar rally raid which the player drives a Porsche 959, resembling that of the 1986 winner. Opponents in the game resemble Peugeot 205 T16s, which went on to win in the 1987 Paris-Dakar rally, with Mitsubishi Pajeros also appearing occasionally. There are two games in the series: ''Big Run – The Supreme 4WD Challenge – 11e Rallye'' (1989) and ''Big Run – The Supreme 4WD Challenge – 13e Rallye'' (1991, Super Famicom) ''Big Run'' was also ported to the Amiga and Atari ST. Super Famicom version The race proceeds in a straight line without any 360° effects to simulate the road turning around in a different direction. Jaleco
was a corporate brand name that was used by two previously connected video game developers and publishers based in Japan. The original Jaleco company was founded in 1974 as Japan Leisure Company, founded by Yoshiaki Kanazawa, before being renamed to simply Jaleco in the early 1980s. This company was later acquired in 2000 by PCCW, who rebranded it as their Japanese game division, PCCW Japan, before reverting it to Jaleco in 2002. In 2006, Jaleco became independent from PCCW and renamed to Jaleco Holding, having their video game operations spun off into a new company, also called Jaleco. This new spin-off company was sold to mobile developer Game Yarou in 2009, with Jaleco Holding renaming itself to Encom Holdings shortly after. Turn (geometry)
A turn is a unit of plane angle measurement equal to radians, 360 degrees or 400 gradians. Winning Run
is a first-person arcade racing simulation game developed and published by Namco in late December 1988 in Japan, before releasing internationally the following year. The player pilots a Formula One racer, with the objective being to complete each race in first place, all while avoiding opponents and other obstacles, such as flood-hit tunnels, pits and steep chambers. It was the very first game to run on the Namco System 21 arcade hardware, capable of 3D shaded polygons. Development of the game began in 1985, taking three years to complete. Upon release, ''Winning Run'' was a major commercial success in Japan and a fairly moderate success in the West. The game received a favorable critical reception, many complimenting its impressive 3D graphics for the time period, alongside its Formula One racing realism. Super Monaco GP
is a Formula One racing simulation video game released by Sega, originally as a Sega X Board arcade game in 1989, followed by ports for multiple video game consoles and home computers in the early 1990s. It is the sequel to the 1979 arcade game ''Monaco GP''. The arcade game consists of one race, the Monaco Grand Prix, but later ports added more courses and game modes based on the 1989 Formula One World Championship. The original concept for ''Super Monaco GP'' came from Hisao Oguchi, who was at the time a game planner with Sega. The arcade game contained parodies of actual brands that were sponsors in Formula One, which led to a lawsuit from Philip Morris over advertising of tobacco products.
