Big Brother Jake
''Big Brother Jake'' is an American sitcom starring Jake Steinfeld that aired on The Family Channel from September 2, 1990 to April 10, 1994. It is notable for being the first sitcom on ''The Family Channel''. Plot The show follows the life of Jake Rozzner (Steinfeld), a former Hollywood stuntman who returned to his Brooklyn foster home to help out his recently widowed foster mother, Connie "Ma" Duncan with her foster children. The foster family included Lou, Kateri, Jill, Andy, and Dave. A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. Barbara Anita Meek (February 26, 1934 – October 3, 2015) was an American actress best known to television viewers for playing the character of Ellen Canby for two seasons on ''Archie Bunker's Place''. Gary K. Shimokawa (born February 13, 1942) is an American director and producer. He is best known for directing the sitcoms ''Archie Bunker's Place'', ''Night Court'' and ''The Golden Girls''. He has directed and produced over 40 shows and movies. Biography Shimokawa was born in Los Angeles in 1942. He is of Japanese descent; he and his family were interned at Manzanar shortly after his birth following the attack on Pearl Harbor and signing of Executive Order 9066. Edward Ferrara (born November 22, 1966) is an American retired professional wrestler, writer and agent for the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling, often co-working alongside Vince Russo.
