''Big Brother 2008'', also known as ''Big Brother 9'', was the ninth series of the British reality television series '' Big Brother''. The show followed twenty-one contestants, known as housemates, who were isolated from the outside world for an extended period of time in a custom built House. Each week, one or more of the housemates were eliminated from the competition, and left the House. The last remaining housemate, Rachel Rice, was declared the winner, winning a cash prize of £100,000. The series launched on Channel 4 on 5 June 2008 and ended on 5 September 2008, lasting 93 days - the joint-second longest British edition of ''Big Brother'' to date (together with the seventh and tenth series, and one day shorter than the eighth series). Davina McCall returned as presenter for her ninth consecutive year. Sixteen housemates entered on launch night, with an additional five being introduced in later weeks. Davina Lucy Pascale McCall (born 16 October 1967) is an English television presenter. She was the presenter of the reality show ''Big Brother (UK), Big Brother'' during its run on Channel 4 between 2000 and 2010. She also hosted Channel 4's ''Streetmate'' (1998–2001, 2016), ''The Million Pound Drop'' (2010–2015), ''Five Minutes to a Fortune'' (2013), and ''The Jump (2014 TV series), The Jump'' (2014–2017), as well as ITV (TV network), ITV's The Biggest Loser (British TV series), ''The Biggest Loser'' (2011–2012), ''Long Lost Family (UK TV series), Long Lost Family'' (2011–present), and ''This Time Next Year (British TV series), This Time Next Year'' (2016–2019). McCall was a regular co-presenter of the ''Comic Relief'' annual telethons from 2005 to 2015. From 2010 to 2014, McCall presented the Sky One dance competition show ''Got to Dance''. ''Dead Set'' is a British Zombie film, zombie Horror fiction, horror miniseries written and created by Charlie Brooker and directed by Yann Demange. The show takes place primarily on the set of a fictional series of the real television show ''Big Brother (British TV series), Big Brother''. The five episodes, aired over five consecutive nights, chronicle a Zombie apocalypse, zombie outbreak that strands the housemates and production staff inside the ''Big Brother'' House, which quickly becomes a shelter from the undead.
