Bicutan Automated Guideway Transit System
The Bicutan AGT is an automated guideway transit (AGT) system under development within the City of Taguig in the Philippines. It will serve as test track for the second mass transit system to be built and developed in the country by local engineers. Despite some media reports calling it a monorail, the system uses two parallel concrete beams to form a track. Automated Guideway Transit
An automated guideway transit (AGT) or automated fixed-guideway transit or automatic guideway transit system is a type of fixed guideway transit infrastructure with a riding or suspension track that supports and physically guides one or more driverless vehicles along its length. The vehicles are often rubber tired or steel wheeled, but other traction systems including air cushion, suspended monorail and maglev have been implemented. The guideway provides both physical support, like a road, as well as the guidance. AGT covers a wide variety of systems, from limited people mover systems commonly found at airports, to more complex automated train systems like the Vancouver SkyTrain. In the people mover role the term "automated people mover" (APM) is sometimes used, although this distinction is relatively rare because most people movers are automated. Larger systems span a variety of conceptual designs, from subway-like advanced rapid transit (ART) systems to smaller (typically tw ...

Mass Transit
Public transport (also known as public transportation, public transit, mass transit, or simply transit) is a system of transport for passengers by group travel systems available for use by the general public unlike private transport, typically managed on a schedule, operated on established routes, and that charge a posted fee for each trip. There is no rigid definition; the ''Encyclopædia Britannica'' specifies that public transportation is within urban areas, and air travel is often not thought of when discussing public transport—dictionaries use wording like "buses, trains, etc." Examples of public transport include Public transport bus service, city buses, trolleybuses, trams (or light rail) and Passenger rail transport, passenger trains, rapid transit (metro/subway/underground, etc.) and ferry, ferries. Public transport between cities is dominated by airlines, intercity bus service, coaches, and intercity rail. High-speed rail networks are being developed in many parts ...

Monorail
A monorail (from "mono", meaning "one", and "rail") is a railway in which the track consists of a single rail or a beam. Colloquially, the term "monorail" is often used to describe any form of elevated rail or people mover. More accurately, the term refers to the style of track. The term "track" is used here for simplicity. Technically the monorail sits on or is suspended from a guideway containing a singular structure. There is an additional generally accepted rule that the support for the car be narrower than the car. Etymology The term possibly comes from 1897, from German engineer Eugen Langen, who called an elevated railway system with wagons suspended the '' Eugen Langen One-railed Suspension Tramway'' (Einschieniges Hängebahnsystem Eugen Langen). Differentiation from other transport systems Monorails have found applications in airport transfer and medium capacity metros. To differentiate monorails from other transport modes, the Monorail Society defines a monorail ...

Automated Guideway Transit System Project (Philippines)
The Philippine government has commenced a project to develop a locally designed and manufactured Automated Guideway Transit System (AGTS) through its Department of Science and Technology (Philippines), Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Two prototype lines has been set up by the DOST, one within the University of the Philippines Diliman campus and another in Bicutan in Taguig. Background The Philippine government through the Department of Science and Technology (Philippines), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has made efforts to develop a locally designed Automated Guideway Transit, Automated Guideway Transit System (AGTS) to curb heavy traffic and air pollution in Metro Manila. The DOST's AGTS was conceptualized to be similar to that of a monorail system but at one-fifth of its cost. AGTS lines are intended to be set up in Metro Manila to augment or serve as a "feeder" to the existing Manila Metro Rail Transit System. A prototype system was developed by the DO ...
