''Bible of the Beast'' is the third studio album by the German power metal band Powerwolf. The album was released on 24 April 2009. It was recorded at the Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Powerwolf revealed the details of their third album on 25 February 2009. They revealed the album cover on 3 March 2009. The album's single "Raise Your Fist, Evangelist" was released on 19 March 2009. Critical reception The record was able to place as the band's first album in the German charts and reached number 76. The Metal Hammer saw ''Bible of the Beast'' as the band's best album so far. "''Bible of the Beast'' has everything that Powerwolf excels in – hymns, pounders and humor – but without this time too much to slide into kitsch". The much more aggressive singing of singer Attila Dorn was praised. Powerwolf
Powerwolf, often stylized as POWERWOLF, is a German power metal band founded in 2003 in Saarbrücken by members of Red Aim. The band consists of vocalist Karsten Brill as "Attila Dorn", lead guitarist Benjamin Buss as "Matthew Greywolf", bassist/rhythm guitarist David Vogt as "Charles Greywolf", keyboardist Christian Jost as "Falk Maria Schlegel" and drummer Roel van Helden. The group uses dark themes and images, contrary to traditional power metal music, as well as corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions and songs about werewolf and vampire legends. They released their debut album, '' Return in Bloodred,'' in 2005. Their second album, ''Lupus Dei'', was released in 2007. Running Wild (band)
Running Wild is a German heavy metal band formed in Hamburg in 1976. They were part of the German metal scene to emerge in the early to mid-1980s, and are also considered to be one of the country's so-called "big four" of power metal, along with Grave Digger, Helloween and Rage. Over the course of their career, they have released 17 studio albums, three live albums, five compilation albums, and six singles/EPs. Although their earlier releases contained Satanic themes and imagery, from the third album on, the band's primary subject matter centered around pirates, sailing and other historical events. Falk Maria Schlegel
Christian Jost (born 29 September 1975), best known by his stage name Falk Maria Schlegel, is a German musician. He is best known as the keyboardist of power metal band Powerwolf. Career Jost started as a keyboardist of a progressive thrash metal band The Experience in 1993. He created layout for their ''Insight'' album. He joined Red Aim in 2002 under the stage names Ray Kitzler and Ray Volver. In 2003, along with other Red Aim members he joined Powerwolf. He takes care of all the organizational matters of the band and is the link between management, record label and booking agency. He also takes care of the most important aspects of the tour planning, the logistic implementation of the various stage designs and all other applicable planning and implementation. David Vogt (; born 5 September 1975), best known by his stage name Charles Greywolf, is a German musician, record producer, mixer and recording engineer. He is best known as the guitarist of the power metal band Powerwolf. He runs a recording studio in Berus, called "Studio Greywolf". He's married to Helen Vogt, vocalist of Lighthouse in Darkness and formerly from Flowing Tears. Career In 2002, David Vogt joined Red Aim as a bassist under a stage name "El Davide". Matthew Greywolf
Benjamin Buss (; born 7 October 1977), best known by his stage name Matthew Greywolf, is a German musician, best known as the guitarist and a main songwriter in the power metal band Powerwolf. He's married to a photographer Janine Buss. Biography Buss comes from Wadgassen. He was raised in a Catholic family. He became interested in heavy metal music when he was 11 years old. In 1994, along with other people he started a band Flowing Tears & Withered Flowers. He was a guitarist and a keyboardist of the band. They changed their name to Flowing Tears in 1999. Karsten Brill (; born 27 October 1970), best known by his stage name Attila Dorn, is a German singer. He has been the lead vocalist of power metal band Powerwolf since 2003. Career Dragon's Tongue and Meskalin (1991–1998) In 1991, Brill along with Derek Butsch (drums), Markus Görg (bass), Thorsten Neu (lead guitar) and Stefan Reile (rhythm guitar) created Dragon's Tongue, the first grunge band in Saarland. They quickly earned a very good reputation. They changed their name to Meskalin in 1996. The band was dissolved after the death of Derek Butsch in 1998. Power Metal
Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context.
