''Malhação'' (, ''Young Hearts'' in English) is a Brazilian soap-opera that aired on TV Globo from 4 March 1995 to 3 April 2020. The series is targeted at a teenage audience. Each season runs for about a year with cast members changing every season. History The soap opera began in 1995, and was initially set in a fictional Gym Club called ''Malhação'' on Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Through the years the setting varied each season. During each episode special cases were presented, and viewers would decide the ending through phone votes. Broadcast history ''Você Decide'' is the second longest-running series of Rede Globo, with nine seasons and 323 episodes. On March 11, 1999, the episode ''Mulher 2000'' had its finale shown only in the North and Northeast regions (along with portions of the Southeast and the Center-West regions) due to a blackout in Brazil and Paraguay in 1999 that greatly affected much of the country at the time of the show. ''Terra Nostra'' ( en, Our Land) is a Brazilian telenovela, produced and broadcast by TV Globo in 1999. The telenovela is written by Benedito Ruy Barbosa and directed by Jayme Monjardim. The story is set in the late 19th century and takes place at a time when slaves were freed in Brazil and there was a need for workers, especially on Brazilian coffee fazendas (plantations). This partly resulted many Italians migrating to Brazil, looking for employment and a better life. Unlike many other telenovela stories, the characters are not larger than life in "Terra Nostra."
