Bhopal–Nagpur Section
The Bhopal–Nagpur section is a railway line connecting Bhopal and . This track is part of the Delhi–Chennai line. The section is under the jurisdiction of West Central Railway and Central Railway. History The Bhopal–Itarsi line was opened by the Begum of Bhopal in 1884. Itarsi was linked with Nagpur between 1923 and 1924. The Bhopal–itarsi-Nagpur line became part of the Delhi–Chennai line in 1929. Electrification The Bhopal–Itarsi sector was electrified in 1988–89 and the Nagpur–Itarsi sector in 1990–91. Speed limits The Delhi–Chennai Central line (Grand Trunk route) is classified as a "Group A" line which can take speeds up to 160 km/h. The Indian locomotive class WDM-2 is a class of diesel-electric locomotive that was developed in 1962 by American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), Diesel (D), Mixed traffic (M) engine, 2nd generation (2). They entered service in 1962. The Indian locomotive class WAG-5 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1978 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works for Indian Railways. Itarsi Junction railway station (station code: ET) is a junction railway station in Narmadapuram district in Madhya Pradesh from which more than 420 trains pass every day. Rail transport in Madhya Pradesh began in the year 1867 when Allahabad–Jabalpur branch line was opened in June 1867.
