Beyond The Gates (music Festival)
Beyond the Gates is an annual extreme metal festival that takes place every year in August in Bergen, Norway. The main stage is at USF Verftet, a refurbished sardine factory transformed into a venue. The festival took place after Hole in the Sky, a predecessor extreme metal festival which took place also in Bergen in August, ended. The first edition of the festival took place in 2013. 2020 edition and COVID-19 pandemic On 25 April 2020, the festival organization announced that the 2020 edition of the festival would be cancelled because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Hole in the Sky was a Norwegian extreme metal festival held in Bergen that took place at the end of August each year from 2000 to 2011. The first event was held in 2000 in honor of the then recently deceased Erik "Grim" Brødreskift, ex-member of Borknagar, Gorgoroth and Immortal. The festival was named after the eponymous song by Black Sabbath. The last edition of the festival took place in August 2011. Inferno Metal Festival is an annual extreme metal festival that takes place every year during Easter in Oslo, Norway. The festival was founded by Borknagar guitarist Jens F. Ryland in cooperation with Radar Booking in 2001 and takes place at Rockefeller Music Hall. Lineups 2022 The 2022 edition will replace the 2020 edition, cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Midgardsblot is an annual extreme metal and folk music festival organized in Borre, Norway. The festival has been organized since 2015 and takes place at the Midgard Viking Centre, museum in a former Viking settlement and the largest burial mound site in Northern Europe. The programme of Midgardsblot includes tours of the area, battle reenactments, documentary screenings, lectures and panel discussions, as well as a Viking village, a Viking market and a games arena for archery, axe-throwing, and other activities.
