Betoño
Betoño is a village in Álava, Basque Country, Spain. The village, to the east of Vitoria-Gasteiz city centre, gives its name to a nearby industrial estate which contains a large Michelin tyre factory, and to Betoño Sports Complex, used for training and matches by many of the football clubs in the area, including the local professional club Deportivo Alavés. Betoño Sports Complex
The Betoño Sports Complex ( es, Complejo Deportivo de Betoño, eu, Betoñu Kirol Esparrua), also known as El Glorioso, is a football training ground and match venue located in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava (Basque Country). Facilities The complex is situated to the east of Vitoria city centre, adjacent to the village of the same name and close to the Salburua wetlands reserve. As of 2018, the facilities for 11-a-side football consisted of three full-size grass pitches (one with a basic covered and seated stand for around 188 spectators) and one artificial turf pitch, and associated changing areas. Salburua
Salburua is a wetland habitat on the eastern outskirts of the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country in Spain. The area, which is part of the city green belt, contains lakes, meadows and oak groves. It was drained in the 19th century to transform the area into farmland. Restoration work started in 1994 and has reversed this situation and now Salburua is a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. The Salburua marshes are considered to be "the Basque country's most valuable area of wetland", according to a Fedenatur report for the European Commission in 2004. History Before 1857, the Salburua wetlands had at least three lakes: Betoño, Larregana, and Arcaute. The grazing, hunting and fishing were well known throughout Basque Country. Álava ( in Spanish) or Araba (), officially Araba/Álava, is a province of Spain and a historical territory of the Basque Country, heir of the ancient Lordship of Álava, former medieval Catholic bishopric and now Latin titular see.
