Bethel School District (Oregon)
Bethel School District (52) is a school district in the U.S. state of Oregon. It serves the Bethel neighborhood in northwest Eugene. During the 2018–19 school year approximately 5,450 students were enrolled in Bethel's 11 schools, making it the third largest school district in Lane County. Bethel School District was formed in 1948 with the consolidation of the Bethel, Irving, Clear Lake, Danebo, and Malabon school districts. Willamette High School opened in September 1949 with an enrollment of 381. Students in the class of 1950 were WHS's first graduates. Alvadore was the last of six small districts to join Bethel in 1960. Tom Powers served as the first superintendent from 1948 to 1970. The auditorium at Willamette High School is named in his honor. Eugene ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, near the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers, about east of the Oregon Coast. Bethel-Danebo, most commonly referred to as Bethel, is a neighborhood of west Eugene, Oregon, United States. The neighborhood boundaries are Oregon Route 99 on the east, the former Southern Pacific Coos Bay Line on the south, Green Hill Road on the west and Clear Lake Road on the north. Kalapuya High School
Kalapuya High School is a public high school in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was established in an innovative model to provide an alternative to students who were not succeeding in a traditional high school environment, usually drawing from Willamette High School. Irving, Eugene, Oregon
Irving was an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States, and now partly within the Eugene city limits. Irving was a station on the Southern Pacific Railroad's Valley Line between Eugene and Junction City, first named "Halletts" when the line was built in 1872. J. L. Hallett had built the first of the line and supervised the construction of the rest of the line to Roseburg. In 1876, the name of the station was changed to Irving, probably for William Irving, who was a settler in the area. "Irvine" post office was established in January of the same year, and the name corrected to Irving in October; the post office ran until 1919. Irving Christian Church (now known as the Sonrise Christian Church) was moved from the Clear Lake area, two miles east of Fern Ridge Reservoir, in 1899.
