Bertone Mantide
The Bertone Mantide is a concept car based on the Corvette ZR1 first unveiled in 2009 over a series of YouTube videos known simply as Project M. The Mantide has better performance figures than the ZR1, due in part to its highly advanced aerodynamics and significant weight savings. The overall vehicle weight has been reduced with using carbon fibre for all body panels, interior trim, seats and even the wheels. The Mantide is lighter than the ZR1. The Mantide has a supercharged V8 engine that produces of torque at 3800 rpm. The new body has aerodynamic benefits over the ZR1, with drag reduced by 25% (Cd 0.298) and a 30% improvement over the ZR1 in down force. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of . Gruppo Bertone, commonly known as Bertone, was an Italian industrial design company which specialized in car styling, coachbuilding and manufacturing. It formerly was also a car manufacturing company. Bertone styling was distinctive, with most cars having a strong "family resemblance" even if they were badged by different manufacturers. Bertone had styled cars for Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, BMW, Citroën, Ferrari, FIAT, Iso, Lancia, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, and Volvo, among others. Jason Castriota is an American automobile designer born in White Plains, New York, and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston and attended but dropped out of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Pasadena. GM LS Engine
"LS engine" is the colloquial name given to the third and fourth generation small-block V8 gasoline engine used in General Motors' vehicles. The name evolved from the need to differentiate the Gen 3/Gen 4 small blocks from the original Gen 1/Gen 2 small blocks released in 1954, which are commonly referred to as "Small Block Chevrolets". The "LS" name originates from the engine RPO code of the first Gen 3 small block, the LS1, introduced in the 1997 Corvette.
