Berisha I Government
The first Government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha was the 63rd ruling Government of the Republic of Albania formed on 8 September 2005. Following the 3 July 2005 election, the Democratic Party formed a center-right post-electoral alliance to make a majority of seats to Parliament and form the government. The alliance consisted of five-center-right parties led by Sali Berisha managed to create a majority of 81 deputies out of 140 in the Assembly. The new government led by Sali Berisha was voted on 8 September with 84-votes Pro, and took oath on 11 September in the presence of the President of the Republic Alfred Moisiu. Sali Berisha
Sali Ram Berisha (; born 15 October 1944) is an Albanian conservative politician and former cardiologist who served as the second President of Albania from 1992 to 1997 and Prime Minister from 2005 to 2013. He is also the current chairman of the Democratic Party of Albania which has been disputed. On 9 September 2021 Berisha was expelled by party chairman Lulzim Basha from the Democratic Party's Parliamentary Group due to legal issues with the US Department of State. This decision led to Berisha starting a nation-wide movement to remove Basha as leader of the Democratic Party, causing a major rift in the party's internal structures, between Berisha's and Basha's supporters. 2005 Albanian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Albania on 3 July 2005. The result was a victory for the opposition Democratic Party (PD) and its allies, prominently the Republican Party (PR). Gazmend Oketa (born 14 December 1968 in Durrës District, Albania) is an Albanian politician. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Albania, as well as Minister of Defence. Political career On 12 March 2007, Oketa was named Deputy Prime Minister, replacing Ilir Rusmajli. On 22 March 2008, Oketa succeeded Fatmir Mediu as Minister Of Defence following Medihu's resignation. He was replaced on 17 September 2009 by Arben Imami. 2007 Albanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Albania on 18 February 2007. They came after threats to boycott the elections by opposition parties because of accusations over fraudulent voting rolls; because of this, the elections were rescheduled from 20 January 2007 to the new date on very short notice, a move which was criticized by observers.
