Bergeijk () is a municipality and town in the southern Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. It consists of an area of and had a population of in . It is one of 21 municipalities, including Eindhoven, that make up the Eindhoven Region Cooperative (''Samenwerkingsverband Regio Eindhoven''). Radio Bergeijk
Radio Bergeijk is a Dutch satirical radio programme of which ''Peer van Eersel'' and ''Toon Spoorenberg'' are the anchormen. They are played by the comedians George van Houts and Pieter Bouwman respectively. The first episode was broadcast on April 3, 2001 from 00:44 AM to 01:00 AM. From then on, a new episode could be heard every weekday. In January 2004 there were dramatic changes in the Dutch radio programming and Radio Bergeijk was forced to broadcast just every Saturday from 13:30 to 14:00 on Radio 1. Subjects of the programme Radio Bergeijk handles controversial subjects arising in Dutch society. Examples of the most popular subjects of the programme are the national immigration policy, health care, the elderly, the society which seems to get less and less tolerant and World War II. Westerhoven
Westerhoven is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Bergeijk, about 15 km southwest of Eindhoven. History Westerhoven lies in a valley between the rivers Keersop and Beekloop which flow just outside the centre of the village. The hill connecting the neighbor village Riethoven dates from Roman times. Frankish ceramics have been found there. Westerhoven used to be part of the ‘heerlijkheid’ Bergeyk but became independent in 1810. Westerhoven was a separate municipality until 1997, when it became part of Bergeijk by municipality reclassification. A Second World War cemetery containing 220 British soldiers was created near Westerhoven in October 1944. It is now maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Riethoven
Riethoven is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Bergeijk, about southwest of Eindhoven. The adjacent township of Walik is in general considered to be a part of Riethoven. Riethoven was originally called Rijthoven, but with time it changed into Riethoven. In Dutch The name means: farms at the Rijt, the Rijt being a river near the municipality. Riethoven was a separate municipality until 1997, when it became part of Bergeijk. Luyksgestel
Luyksgestel () is a village in the Netherlands. It is located in the province of North Brabant, within the municipality of Bergeijk. History It was first mentioned in 1343 as Gastel, and means "guest house". Luik (French: Liège) has been added to distinguish from Moergestel. For centuries, Luyksgestel was a part of the territories of the Southern Netherlands (present-day Belgium and surroundings). Until the French revolution it was an exclave of the Bishopric of Liège. Tom van der Leegte (born 27 March 1977) is a Dutch former professional footballer. He formerly played for clubs like PSV Eindhoven and VfL Wolfsburg. Career Van der Leegte made his debut as a 17-year-old for PSV. He was a member of the Dutch squad at the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. After two seasons for PSV he was loaned to RKC Waalwijk. Harm van Veldhoven (; born 28 September 1962 in Luyksgestel) is a Dutch-Belgian football manager who is currently unemployed after last managing Westerlo. Van Veldhoven started his career with local youth team De Raven. He was picked up by SK Lommel at the age of 17. He made his way up to the highest level of Belgian football with Germinal Ekeren. He then went to RWDM and eventually returned to SK Lommel when they had also arrived in First Division. Wilbert Das (born 2 December 1963) is a Dutch fashion designer. Biography Wilbert Das spent his formative years working on his parents dairy farm in the small village of Riethoven in the southern Netherlands. At age 19 he left Riethoven to study fashion design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem, where he received his diploma in 1988. Intrigued by the revolution that was taking place in Italian fashion, after graduating from Arnhem Das travelled to Italy for an interview with clothing manufacturer Renzo Rosso, the owner of the fashion brand Diesel.
