Issachar Berend Lehmann, Berend Lehmann, Yissakhar Bermann Segal, Yissakhar ben Yehuda haLevi, Berman Halberstadt (April 23, 1661 in Essen, Westphalia – July 9, 1730 in Halberstadt, Kingdom of Prussia), was a German banker, merchant, diplomatic agent as well as army and mint contractor working as a court Jew for Prince-elector, Elector Augustus II the Strong of Saxony, King of Poland, and other German princes. Elvira Bayakhmetovna Berend ( Sakhatova, born 19 September 1965) is a Kazakhstan-born Luxembourg chess player who holds the FIDE title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM). She is a three-time Luxembourg Chess Championship winner (1998, 2015, 2016) and four-time World Senior Chess Championship, World Women's Over 50 Chess Championship winner (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022). Berend Strik (born 26 April 1960) is a Dutch visual artist working and living in Amsterdam. Biography Berend Strik grew up in Nijmegen, Netherlands. From 1986 until 1988 he studied at the Rijksakademie (Royal Academy of Visual Arts) in Amsterdam. From 1998 until 2000 he followed the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York. In 2001 he was "artist in residence" at Het Vijfde Seizoen (The Fifth Season) in Den Dolder, Netherlands. Charlotte Berend-Corinth
Charlotte Berend-Corinth (25 May 1880 – 10 January 1967) was a female German painter and artist in the Berliner Secession. She was married to German painter Lovis Corinth. Life Charlotte Berend studied fine arts at the Royal School of Art in Berlin and the Berliner Kunstgewerbemuseum, taught by Eva Stort and Max Schäfer. In 1901, she was the first student at the private art school of Lovis Corinth, who fell in love with her. She became his model for a number of paintings, including ''Portrait of Charlotte Berend in a White Dress'' ''(seen at right)''. On 26 March 1903, she married Corinth and changed her name to Berend-Corinth. Berend Veneberg (born 5 November 1963 in Den Ham) is a former strongman and powerlifter from the Netherlands. He finished 5th at the World's Strongest Man games in 1993, 9th in 1998, 6th in 1999, 1st at Europe's Strongest Man in 2000 and won Strongest man of the Netherlands 7 times. Biography Veneberg was born in Den Ham, Overijssel. He managed his first podium finish at the Strongest man of the Netherlands in 1991 where he finished third behind Ted van der Parre and Wout Zijlstra. Berend McKenzie is a Canadian actor and playwright. As an actor he is most known for playing Lance in the 2004 film, Catwoman. As a playwright Berend is most known for his controversial play, ''Nggrfg'' (Nigger fag, subtitled, ''Would You Say the Name of This Play?''). Biography Berend is of African descent. He was adopted by a Caucasian family; growing up in Alberta. There he found little support for being homosexual due his family's Christian beliefs. Berend Hendriks
Berend Hendriks (Apeldoorn, July 9, 1918 – Arnhem, August 6, 1997) was a Dutch artist, and lecturer at the ArtEZ Academy of fine art in Arnhem. Together with Peter Struycken he initiated the Arnhem school of environmental art. Life and work Hendriks, son of an arborist from Apeldoorn, was initially destined to follow into his father's footsteps. He attended the horticultural school in Boskoop, but finally opted for a career in the visual arts. Julius Berend Cohen FRS (6 May 1859 in Eccles – 14 June 1935 in Coniston) was an English chemist. He studied chemistry with Hans von Pechmann at the University of Munich. One of his students was Henry Drysdale Dakin.
