Benny Chan Muk-sing (; 24 October 1961 – 23 August 2020) was a Hong Kong film director, Film producer, producer and screenwriter. The White Storm
''The White Storm'', formerly known as ''The Cartels War'' () is a 2013 Hong Kong-Chinese crime thriller film directed by Benny Chan and starring Sean Lau, Louis Koo, and Nick Cheung. The film had its world premiere at the 2013 Hong Kong Asian Film Festival on 25 October 2013. ''Connected'' () is a 2008 Hong Kong action film, and a remake of the 2004 American film '' Cellular'' co-written, produced and directed by Benny Chan. The film stars Louis Koo, Barbie Hsu, Nick Cheung and Liu Ye. ''Connected'' tells the story of Bob (Koo), a single father who receives a distressing phone call on his cellular phone from Grace Wong (Hsu), a woman who has been kidnapped by a gang of corrupt Interpol agents who have a hidden agenda. The film began development at Warner China Film HG, the Chinese production arm of Warner Bros., who felt that a remake of ''Cellular'' would reach out to Hong Kong's cell phone user population, and decided to hire Benny Chan to develop a screenplay for the film. ''Heroic Duo'' () is a 2003 Hong Kong action film produced and directed by Benny Chan and starring Leon Lai, Ekin Cheng and Francis Ng. Plot Ken Li is a senior member of the Hong Kong Police Force. He has an egocentric and overpowering personality. He is intolerant of mistakes, his underlings and girlfriend, Brenda, suffering due to his macho personality. The main action begins when Inspector Li is brought in to investigate a cop who has committed a crime. On interrogation the cop reveals that he remembers nothing since he met a man the night before. The Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director is an award presented annually at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA). It is given to honour the best director of a Hong Kong film. The 1st Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony was held in 1982, with no formal nomination procedure established; the award was given to Allen Fong for his direction of '' Father and Son.'' After the first award ceremony, a nomination system was put in place whereby no more than five nominations are made for each category and each entry is selected through two rounds of voting.
