Benjamin Tang
Benjamin Tang, Gold Bauhinia Star, GBS (, born 1 December 1951) is a former Director of Audit (Hong Kong), Director of Audit with the Audit Commission (Hong Kong), Audit Commission of Hong Kong. Education Tang graduated from University of Hong Kong in Economics and Sociology. Tang also studied at the Oxford University, the London Business School and the Toronto International Leadership Centre for Financial Sector Supervision. Career In October 1974, Tang joined Hong Kong civil service as an Administrative Officer. Tang served in various bureaucracies and departments and worked in policy areas that covered district administration, sports and culture, transport, municipal services and the environment. The Gold Bauhinia Star (, GBS) is the highest Bauhinia Star rank in the honours system of Hong Kong, created in 1997 to replace the British honours system of the Order of the British Empire after the transfer of sovereignty to People's Republic of China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Dominic Chan (politician)
Dominic Chan Chi-ming (; born 1952) is the former vicar general of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. He also serves as parish priest of the city's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Early life Chan was born in Yim Tin Tsai, Sai Kung District, New Territories, Hong Kong in 1952. Chan is of A Hakka ancestry. He was ordained priest by Cardinal John Baptist Wu in 1979. Chan later led funds to restore a chapel on Yim Tin Tsai Island in compliance with a UNESCO restoration project in 2016. Vicar General Chan served as vicar general of the Diocese of Hong Kong from December 1992 until January 2019. He was chosen together with John Tong Hon, and served with him until the latter's appointment as coadjutor bishop of Hong Kong in 2008. Michael John Hartmann GBS () is a senior judge. He is Chairman of the Market Misconduct Tribunal and the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal in Hong Kong. Early life and education Hartmann was born in Bombay (now Mumbai), British India on 24 July 1944 to a British father and an Australian mother. He was raised near Orange, New South Wales, Australia. He holds Australian citizenship. Hartmann moved to England at the age of nine. After obtaining his A Levels in England, he moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). He received an LLB from the University of London through the University College of Rhodesia in 1967. After university, he completed national service in the Rhodesian Army. Hong Kong Order Of Precedence
The Hong Kong order of precedence is a nominal and symbolic hierarchy of important positions within the Government of Hong Kong. Administered by the government's Protocol Division, the hierarchy does not determine the order of succession for the office of Chief Executive, which is instead specified by the Basic Law of Hong Kong. Timothy Tong Hin-ming () born 12 July 1949, is a former commissioner for the Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was Commissioner of Customs and Excise for the Customs and Excise Department of Hong Kong. Tong studied at Diocesan Boys' School for secondary education, and graduated from Chinese University of Hong Kong. He joined the Government of Hong Kong in November 1972 and served as an officer in the Executive Department and Trade and Industry Department. David Sun Tak-kei, GBS, JP (, born 1953) was Director of Audit of Hong Kong, a " principal official" position, between 2012 and 2018, and was the president of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants between 2003 and 2007 (Hong Kong Society of Accountants before 8 September 2004). 2012 Lamma Island Ferry Collision
On 1 October 2012, at approximately 20:23 HKT, the passenger ferries ''Sea Smooth'' and ''Lamma IV'' collided off Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island, Hong Kong. This occurred on the National Day of the People's Republic of China, and one of the ships was headed for the commemorative firework display, scheduled to take place half an hour later. With 39 killed and 92 injured, the incident was the deadliest maritime disaster in Hong Kong since 1971. On 14 February 2015, ''Sea Smooth''′s captain Lai Sai-ming was convicted of 39 counts of manslaughter over the deaths, while ''Lamma IV''′s captain Chow Chi-wai was acquitted of the same charges by the High Court. Independent Commission Against Corruption (Hong Kong)
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong was established by Governor of Hong Kong, Governor MacLehose of Beoch, Sir Murray MacLehose on 15 February 1974, when Hong Kong was under colonial Hong Kong, British rule. Its main aim was to clean up endemic corruption in the many departments of the Government of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Government through law enforcement, prevention and community education.
