Benjamin Franklin Bailey
Benjamin Franklin Bailey (August 7, 1875 – after January 8, 1954) was an American electrical engineer. A native of Sheridan, Michigan, Benjamin Franklin Bailey studied electrical engineering at the University of Michigan and later held the positions of chief engineer of the Fairbanks-Morse, Fairbanks Morse Electrical Manufacturing Company and Howell Electrical Motor Company, director of Bailey Electrical Company, and vice-president and director of the Fremont Motor Corporation. He was the author of several books on electrical engineering, including ''Principles of Dynamo-electric Machinery'' (1915). He became professor of electrical engineering at the University of Michigan in 1913 and was department chairman from 1922 until his retirement in 1944. In the 1920s, he invented the capacitor motor. Benjamin Bailey (missionary)
Benjamin Bailey (Dewsbury, November 1791 - 3 April 1871 in Sheinton, Shropshire, England) was a British Church Mission Society missionary in Kerala, India for 34 years. He was ordained 1815 and moved to Kerala in 1816 where he found a mission station in Kottayam, and in 1821 he established a Malayalam printing press. He translated the Bible into Malayalam, in 1846 published the first English-Malayalam dictionary, and in 1849 published the first Malayalam-English dictionary. Life Benjamin Bailey was born in November 1791, as the son of Joseph Bailey and his wife Martha. 1812, two years under Rev. T. Scott for missionary training; one year under J. Buckworth, Vicar of Dewsbury. He was ordained as Deacon on 6 August and as Priest on 17 December 1815, by the Archbishop of York (to the Curacy of Harewood, Yorkshire). Early life Bailey was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and raised in Chatham Borough, New Jersey. He was born the younger of two siblings. He graduated in 1988 from Chatham Borough High School as part of the school's 76th and final graduating class. He attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Los Angeles in 1993. Ernest Harold "Benny" Bailey (August 13, 1925 – April 14, 2005) was an American jazz trumpeter. Biography A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Bailey briefly studied flute and piano before turning to trumpet. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland Conservatory of Music. He was influenced by Cleveland native Tadd Dameron and had a significant influence on other Cleveland musicians, such as Albert Ayler, Bob Cunningham (musician), Bob Cunningham, Bobby Few, Bill Hardman, and Frank Wright (jazz musician), Frank Wright. Bailey played with Tony Lovano, father of Joe Lovano. In the early 1940s he worked with Bull Moose Jackson and Scatman Crothers. He later worked with Dizzy Gillespie and toured with Lionel Hampton. During a European tour with Hampton he remained in Europe and spent time in Sweden, where he worked with Harry Arnold (musician), Harry Arnold's big band. Benjamin Baily (1671–1720), was an English divine. Life Bayly matriculated at Oxford of St. Edmund's Hall on 20 March 1688, and graduated B.A. of Wadham College on 15 October 1692. He took the degree of M.A. on 30 October 1695. He was rector of St. James's, Bristol, from 1697 to his death, 25 April 1720. He was also for some time vicar of Olveston, Gloucestershire. He died in 1720. According to Quote Investigator, Benjamin Bayly is the oldest known source of the aphorism " Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".
