Dieter Roth
Dieter Roth (April 21, 1930 – June 5, 1998) was a Swiss artist best known for his artist's books, editioned prints, sculptures, and works made of found materials, including rotting food stuffs. He was also known as Dieter Rot and Diter Rot. Biography Early life He was born Karl-Dietrich Roth in Hannover, the first of three sons. His mother Vera was German; his father Karl-Ulrich was a Swiss businessman. After the beginning of World War II, Roth was to spend each summer in Switzerland at the behest of the Swiss charity Pro Juventute, a group trying to protect Swiss-German children from the worst ravages of the war. By 1943 the exile had become permanent, and Roth was sent to live with a family in Zürich. This house, the home of the family of Fritz Wyss, was shared with Jewish and communist artists and actors. Translation is the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text. The English language draws a terminological distinction (which does not exist in every language) between ''translating'' (a written text) and '' interpreting'' (oral or signed communication between users of different languages); under this distinction, translation can begin only after the appearance of writing within a language community. David Zwirner Gallery is an American contemporary art gallery owned by David Zwirner. It has four gallery spaces in New York City and one each in London, Hong Kong, and Paris. History The Zwirner Gallery opened in 1993 on the ground floor of 43 Greene Street in SoHo in New York City, with a one-man show of the Austrian sculptor Franz West. In 2002 it moved to 525 West 19th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York. Ulf Stolterfoht
Ulf Stolterfoht (born 8 June 1963 in Stuttgart) is a German writer. Life and work Ulf Stolterfoht opted out of military service and performed civilian service instead, after which he studied German and Linguistics in Bochum und Tübingen. Stolterfoht writes language-critical lyric poetry and essays which have been published in many anthologies (e.g. Der Große Conrady) and literary magazines. His first publication was the poetry volume "fachsprachen I-IX" ('specialist languages I-IX') which appeared in 1998 published by Urs Engeler Editor. In 2005, his translation of Gertrude Stein's "Winning His Way" appeared. From 2008 to 2009, he was visiting professor in the German Institute of Literature in Leipzig.
