Benjamin Wilson (June 21, 1721 – June 6, 1788) was a British painter, printmaker and scientist (natural philosopher). Life He was the 14th child of Major Wilson, a wealthy York clothier whose house was decorated by the French history painter, Jacques Parmentier (d 1730). His father's business failed and Wilson moved to London, where he became a legal clerk and began to study painting, with the encouragement of William Hogarth, taking life-drawing classes at St. Martin's Lane Academy. For two weeks in 1746 and again from 1748 to 1750 he was in Dublin, where he practised successfully as a portrait painter and electrical scientist. On his return to London he settled into Godfrey Kneller's old house in Great Queen Street and built up a lucrative portrait practice, competing with the young Joshua Reynolds. James Benjamin Wilson (June 17, 1891 – death unknown), nicknamed "Little Ben", was an American Negro league outfielder in the 1920s. Career Early career Wilson began his career with Sunderland in 2006, earning a professional contract in 2010. He was sent on loan to Harrogate Town in 2013, playing three times. Wilson was sent out on loan to Gateshead and Chesterfield, failing to make an appearance for either and was released by Sunderland in the summer of 2013. Ben Ryan Wilson (born 15 March 1986 in Sheffield, England) is a former professional motorcycle speedway rider. Career Wilson started his career with the Sheffield Prowlers on his 15th birthday in the Conference League. He was selected as the Sheffield Tigers reserve for the 2003 season, and after a slow start he continued into 2004, where he showed more promise. In 2005, Wilson moved up to second string in which he partnered Sean Wilson, and continued to improve his average throughout the year. In 2006, his form from 2005 was noticed and he was signed to double up with Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League, as well as riding for Sheffield. Ben Wilson (born 25 February 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Wilson was secured by Collingwood from Norwood in the 1994 AFL Draft with the ninth selection, but first not from a TAC Cup side. The South Australian didn't feature in the 1995 AFL season and then appeared twice for Collingwood in 1996. Ben Wilson is an Australian kitesurfer notable for holding the record for kitesurfing the largest wave ever captured on film; In 2011, Ben successfully kited Fiji’s most infamous wave, Cloudbreak at 35-foot. There have been many attempts by the next generation of kitesurfers including Nicolo Porcella and Jesse Richman to best this feat but as yet there has been no successful attempt. Benjamin Wilson Jr. (March 18, 1967 – November 21, 1984) was an American high school basketball player from Chicago, Illinois. Wilson, a Neal F. Simeon Vocational High School basketball player, was regarded as the top high school player in the U.S. by scouts and coaches attending the 1984 Athletes For Better Education basketball camp. Bevan Alexander Behn Wilson (born December 19, 1958) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played nine seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Black Hawks.
