Ben McGrail
Ben McGrail (born 4 November) is a British broadcast journalist, best known for his work at ITV News West Country as their Somerset Correspondent. Career McGrail studied broadcast journalism at the University of Leeds from 2004 to 2007 where he started in radio at the student radio station LSR. After graduating, McGrail worked as a freelance journalist before joining Andover Sound in September 2008 as news editor and drivetime presenter. In 2011 McGrail was appointed as the drivetime presenter on BBC Somerset and in 2013 he took over the 9am mid-morning phone-in programme. In 2017 McGrail was announced as the new Somerset Correspondent for ITV News West Country. Broadcast journalism is the field of news and journals which are broadcast by electronic methods instead of the older methods, such as printed newspapers and posters. It works on radio (via air, cable, and Internet), television (via air, cable, and Internet) and the World Wide Web. Such media disperse pictures (static and moving), visual text and sounds. Leeds Student Radio (also known as ''LSR'' and formerly as LSRfm.com) is a student radio station broadcasting every day during term time from Leeds University Union at the University of Leeds. The Breeze (Andover)
The Breeze (formerly ''Andover Sound'') was an independent local radio station in England, serving Andover and northwest Hampshire, and parts of east Wiltshire from studios at Eastgate House in Andover. Beginning as Andover Sound in 2008, from 2011 the station was owned and operated by Bauer Radio as part of The Breeze network. From September 2020 the station was replaced by Greatest Hits Radio. BBC Radio Somerset is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of Somerset. It broadcasts on FM, AM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios in the Blackbrook area of Taunton. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 47,000 listeners and a 4.1% share as of September 2022. In broadcasting, a phone-in or call-in is a programme format in which viewers or listeners are invited to air their live comments by telephone, usually in respect of a specific topic selected for discussion on the day of the broadcast. On radio (especially talk radio), it is common for an entire programme to be dedicated to a phone-in session. On television, phone-in's are often part of a wider discussion programme: a current example in the UK is the "Jeremy Vine" TV show. The Radio Academy Awards, started in 1983, were the most prestigious awards in the British radio industry. For most of their existence, they were run by ZAFER Associates, but in latter years were brought under the control of The Radio Academy. The awards were generally referred to by the name of their first sponsor, Sony, as The Sony Awards, The Sony Radio Awards or variations. In August 2013, Sony announced the end of its sponsorship agreement with The Radio Academy after 32 years. Consequently, the awards were named simply ''The Radio Academy Awards''. Mind (charity)
Mind is a mental health charity in England and Wales. Founded in 1946 as the National Association for Mental Health (NAMH), it celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016. Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. It also works to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health.
