Ben Gage
Ben Gage (born Benjamin Austin Gage, October 29, 1914 – April 28, 1978) was an American radio singer and announcer, occasional off-screen film singer dubbing the voice of non-singing actors, and television actor active from 1937 to 1975. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was married to film star Esther Williams. Early career Gage joined NBC's Hollywood announcing staff in 1937. Later that year, he became the announcer for the Olsen and Johnson radio program. On May 20, 1940, ''Blue Network Varieties'' was launched on the NBC Pacific Blue network. Gage was the singing announcer of the five-day-a-week half-hour program. That same year, he and Mary Jane Barnes were "featured singers" on ''Remember This Song?'', a weekly program also on NBC Pacific Blue. In September 1941, he joined the ''Bob Hope Show'', replacing Bill Goodwin as announcer. During World War II, Gage was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force. ''Maverick'' is an American Western television series with comedic overtones created by Roy Huggins and originally starring James Garner as an adroitly articulate poker player plying his trade on riverboats and in saloons while traveling incessantly through the 19th-century American frontier. The show ran for five seasons from September 22, 1957, to July 8, 1962 on ABC. Overview ''Maverick'' initially starred James Garner as poker player Bret Maverick. John Augustus Kelly Jr. (September 16, 1927 – November 7, 1992), known professionally as Jack Kelly, was an American film and television actor most noted for the role of Bart Maverick in the television series ''Maverick'', which ran on ABC from 1957 to 1962. Kelly shared the series, rotating as the lead from week to week, first with James Garner as Bret Maverick (1957–1960) then with Roger Moore as Beau Maverick (1960–1961) and Robert Colbert as Brent Maverick (1961, for two episodes), before becoming the only Maverick (alternating with reruns from the Garner era) in the fifth season. Kelly later became a politician, having served from 1983 to 1986 as the mayor of Huntington Beach, California. The Big Operator (1959 Film)
''The Big Operator'' (a.k.a. ''Anatomy of the Syndicate'') is a black and white 1959 American crime/drama film starring Mickey Rooney as a corrupt union boss, with Steve Cochran, Mel Torme and Mamie Van Doren as co-stars. The film is a remake of '' Joe Smith, American'' (1942) with labor union thugs replacing Axis spies. Plot Ruthless union leader "Little Joe" Braun (Rooney) is due to face questioning from a Senate committee. On the night preceding the inquiry, he sends a hit man, Oscar "The Executioner" Wetzel, to kill a witness named Tragg and steal incriminating documents in Tragg's possession at a factory. MGM Records
MGM Records was a record label founded by the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film studio in 1946 for the purpose of releasing soundtrack recordings (later LP albums) of their musical films. It transitioned into a pop music label that continued into the 1970s. The company also released soundtrack albums of the music for some of their non-musical films as well, and on rare occasions, cast albums of off-Broadway musicals such as ''The Fantasticks'' and the 1954 revival of ''The Threepenny Opera''. In one instance, MGM Records released the highly successful soundtrack album of a film made by another studio, Columbia Pictures's ''Born Free'' (1966).
