Belmont Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Belmont in Allegany County, New York. The three story brick building was constructed in 1890 to plans by Fredonia architects Curtis & Archer. The first floor features cast iron storefronts and arcaded loggia. Located adjacent to the Allegany County Courthouse, the hotel played an important role in the county's social, business, and political affairs. New York State Route 19
New York State Route 19 (NY 19) is a north–south state highway in Western New York in the United States. It is the longest state highway in that region, and the only other one besides NY 14 to completely transect the state from the Pennsylvania state line to the shore of Lake Ontario. It continues south into Pennsylvania as Pennsylvania Route 449 (PA 449) and ends at an intersection with the Lake Ontario State Parkway just south of the lakeshore in Hamlin. Belmont is a village within the town of Amity in Allegany County, New York, United States. Belmont is the county seat of Allegany County. The population was 969 at the 2010 census. The name means "beautiful hill". The village is centrally located in Amity and is northeast of Olean. Enoch A. Curtis (1836–1907) was an American architect practicing in Fredonia, New York during the nineteenth century. Life and career Enoch Arnold Curtis was born July 19, 1836, in Busti, New York to Isaac Curtis, a farmer, and Susan (Hunter) Curtis. He was raised on the farm, educated in the academy at Jamestown, and trained as a carpenter. In 1862 he enlisted in the 112th New York Infantry Regiment of the Union Army and was commissioned a captain. He was heavily injured during the Battle of Cold Harbor in 1864, and was honorably discharged due to his wounds. He settled in Fredonia, and while recovering he ran a hardware business and took up the study of architecture."Major Enoch A. Fredonia is a village in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. The population was 9,871 as of the 2020 census. Fredonia is in the town of Pomfret south of Lake Erie.
