Belle Benchley
Belle Jennings Benchley (August 28, 1882 – December 17, 1973), known as “The Zoo Lady,” was the director of the San Diego Zoo from 1927 to 1953, guiding its expansion from a small collection of animals to an innovative, world-class zoo. Personal Belle Jennings was born in Larned, Kansas in 1882 and moved to San Diego with her family at the age of 5. Balboa Park is a historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States. Greenwood Memorial Park (San Diego)
Greenwood Memorial Park is a cemetery located on unincorporated land surrounded by the city of San Diego at 4300 Imperial Avenue in San Diego County, California. The cemetery is adjacent to Mount Hope Cemetery. Opened in 1907, Greenwood covers approximately five miles east of Downtown San Diego. San Diego County Women's Hall Of Fame
The Women's Museum of California (WMC) is a nonprofit museum located in San Diego, California and dedicated to women's history. It was first organized under the names the Women's History Reclamation Project and then the Women's History Museum and Educational Center. It was founded in 1983. In addition to exhibits and programs offered, the WMofC also co-founded and hosts the San Diego County Women's Hall of Fame. The museum is located at Liberty Station and has exhibit space, archives, a library and a store that features items made exclusively by women.
