The event marked Bellator's first return to Irish soil since February 2020. Background A lightweight bout between #1 ranked Patricky Pitbull and #4 ranked Peter Queally served as the headliner for this event. This was a rematch of their first bout that was stopped by the doctor due to a cut on Patricky at Bellator 258. Originally set to be the co-headliner, the bout was promoted to the main event on October, 6, 2021, when Patricky Pitbull's younger brother and Bellator MMA Lightweight World Champion Patrício Pitbull announced he was vacating the title, not wanting to get in the way of his older brothers title aspirations. Bellator MMA (formerly Bellator Fighting Championships) is an American mixed martial arts promotion (entertainment), promotion founded in 2008 and based in Santa Monica, California, owned and operated as a subsidiary of television and media conglomerate Paramount Global. Charlie Ward (born 17 December 1980) is an Irish mixed martial artist currently competing in the middleweight division of Bellator MMA. A professional competitor since 2014, he formerly competed for the UFC. Mixed martial arts career Early career Ward held an amateur record of 2–0 before beginning his professional MMA career in 2015, competing for regional promotions in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
