Belgium Fed Cup Team
The Belgian women's national tennis team, managed by the Belgian Tennis Federation, has been competing in the International Tennis Federation sanctioned Fed Cup since the very beginning: 1963. It has won the competition once, in 2001. Both Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin won their singles matches to seal the first victory for Belgium against Russia in Madrid. Johan Van Herck
Johan Van Herck (born 24 May 1974) is a Belgian tennis coach and former professional player. Van Herck first broke into the top 100 of the ATP rankings in 1996, when he made semi-finals at the Copenhagen Open and Italy's Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia. In the later he upset top seed Félix Mantilla Botella in the second round. In both 1997 and 1998, Van Herck was a semi-finalist at the Coral Springs International Tennis Championships. He had his best Grand Slam performance at the 1998 French Open, where in the opening round he defeated world number four Greg Rusedski in straight sets. He then beat Spanish qualifier Jordi Mas to reach the third round, but was then eliminated by another qualifier, Jens Knippschild, despite winning the opening two sets, from which he dropped just two games. 1965 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1965 Federation Cup was a team tennis tournament that took place at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was third edition of the of what is now known as the Fed Cup and had eleven nations participating in the tournament throughout the four days from 15–18 January 1965. The eleven teams played in a knockout format with six teams having to play in the opening round to join the remaining five who received first rounds byes. After winning all of the ties 3-0, the final was between the United States and Australia who for the third time in consecutive years met up in the final which was played on the 18 January. After Lesley Turner and Margaret Smith each recorded wins in the singles, Australia would defend their title that they won in 1964 despite a loss in the doubles. The 1976 Federation Cup was the 14th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. For the first time, enough teams entered to necessitate Pre-Qualifying rounds. The tiebreaker also was used for the first time. The tournament was held at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, from 22–29 August.
