Anthony Paul Beke (born 20 July 1966), known professionally as Anton Du Beke (), is a British ballroom and Latin dancer, and television presenter, best known for being a professional dancer and later a judge on the BBC One celebrity dancing show, ''Strictly Come Dancing'', since the show began in 2004. His professional dance partner since 1997 has been Erin Boag. In 2009, he presented the United Kingdom version of '' Hole in the Wall'', for the BBC, replacing Dale Winton after being a team captain in 2008. Charles Tilstone Beke (10 October 1800 – 31 July 1874) was an English traveller, geographer and Biblical critic. Biography Born in Stepney, London, the son of a merchant in the City of London, for a few years Beke engaged in mercantile pursuits. He later studied law at Lincoln's Inn, and for a time practised at the Bar, but finally devoted himself to the study of historical, geographical and ethnographical subjects. The first fruits of Beke's researches appeared in his work ''Origines Biblicae'' or ''Researches in Primeval History'', published in 1834. An attempt to reconstruct the early history of the human race from geological data, it raised a storm of opposition on the part of defenders of the traditional readings of the Book of Genesis, but in recognition of the value of the work, the University of Tübingen conferred upon him the degree of PhD. Emanuel Beke (Beke Manó , 24 April 1862, Pápa – 27 June 1946, Budapest) was a Hungarian mathematician, specializing in differential equations, determinants, and mathematical physics. He is known for reforming the teaching of mathematics in Hungary. Education and career At the University of Budapest he received a mathematics-physics degree in 1883 and a doctorate in 1884. In 1908 he was an Invited Speaker of the ICM in Rome. In 1914 he was elected a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In 1922 the official Council of the University of Budapest condemned his political activity, dismissed him from the University, and took away his membership in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Péter Beke (born 14 March 2001) is a Hungarian professional footballer who plays as a forward for the Nemzeti Bajnokság II club Nyíregyháza. Club career Beke spent his early years in academies, such as Bolha Focitanoda, Dalnoki Akadémia, and Ferencváros. He signed with Hamburger SV in 2017, and stayed there for four years. Richard Beke (1630–1707), of Westminster and Ford, Dinton, Buckinghamshire, was an English politician. He was a Member (MP) for Elgin and Nairn in 1656, for Amersham on 8 February 1659, for Aylesbury in 1689 and for Wendover in 1690, 1695 and 1698. Rutger Beke (pronounced "bay-kuh") ( Halle, 8 August 1977) is a retired Belgian triathlete living in Leuven. Beke competed for the Uplace Pro Triathlon Team until he announced his retirement from professional triathlon on 31 May 2011. Rutger Beke started competing in the sport of triathlon when he was 17. He performed well in several Ironman races, including five top five placings in the Ironman Hawaii. Beke became well-known because of his alleged EPO use. In 2004, he was tested positive in both his A- and B-sample for EPO. He was suspended from competition for 18 months. In August 2005, the Commission reversed its decision and exonerated him based on scientific and medical information presented by Beke. Walter I Beke ({{fl. 12th century) (''alias'' Bech, Bek, Beche, Beke, Beek, Bec, etc. Latinised to de Becco), of Eresby in the parish of Spilsby in Lincolnshire, was a prominent Anglo-Flemish landholder. He held seven knight's fees from the Bishop of Durham as his feudal overlord. Wouter Beke (born 9 August 1974) is a Belgium, Belgian politician and a member of the Christian Democratic and Flemish, CD&V. He was reelected as a member of the Belgian Senate in 2007. In 2014 he became a member of the Belgian Federal House of Representatives and was reelected in 2019. In July 2019 he succeeded Kris Peeters as Federal Minister for Work, Economy and Consumer affairs.
