Beisfjord Bridge
The Beisfjord Bridge ( no, Beisfjordbrua) is a girder bridge in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The concrete bridge crosses the Beisfjorden on the west side of the town of Narvik. The bridge connects Ankenes, a residential area on the west side of Narvik, southwest of the fjord, to the city centre of Narvik and the majority of the population is on the northeastern side. The Beisfjord Bridge on the European route E06 highway crosses the fjord between Ankenesstranda and Narvik. The village of Beisfjord is located at the end of the long fjord. The maximum depth of the fjord reaches below sea level. History A temporary bridge was set up over the fjord in July 1943 and a ferry connection was set up between Fagernes and Ankenesstranda. Narvik is a town and the administrative centre of Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The town is located along the Ofotfjorden in the Ofoten region. The town lies on a peninsula located between the Rombaken fjord and the Beisfjorden. Ankenes
Ankenes is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1884 until 1974. It encompassed most of the present-day Narvik Municipality, surrounding of the town of Narvik which was once its own municipality. The administrative centre of Ankenes was the village of Ankenesstrand, situated along the west side of the Beisfjorden, where the Ankenes Church is located. Today, the name Ankenes is often used to refer to the suburban Ankenesstrand area, just outside the town of Narvik. European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border.
