"Get Down" is the debut single by Canadian boy band b4-4. It was released in May 2000 as the first single from their debut self-titled album. The song was very successful in Canada, peaking at number 4 on Canada's Singles Chart. The song was written and produced by Jason Levine and James McCollum, who were nominated for "Best Producer" at the 2001 Juno Awards for their work on the track. The song was featured on MuchDance 2001. Content Since its release, the song has become infamous for its suggestive lyrics, which are thinly veiled references to oral sex. The Juno Awards of 2001 were held in Hamilton, Ontario Canada during the weekend of 3–4 March 2001. The primary ceremonies were hosted by Rick Mercer at Copps Coliseum on 4 March 2001 and broadcast on CBC Television. Performers during the telecast included: Deborah Cox, Nelly Furtado, The Guess Who, Jacksoul, Michie Mee, The Moffatts and Treble Charger. Nominations were announced 24 January 2001. Nelly Furtado received five nominations and won four of these. The 2001 awards were the last Junos broadcast on CBC Television until 2018. From 2002 to 2017, the awards would move to CTV. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. The Canadian Singles Chart was a chart compiled by the American-based music sales tracking company, Nielsen SoundScan, which began publication in November 1996. It was published every Wednesday and also published on Thursday by '' Jam!''/Canoe. It was superseded by the '' Billboard''-published Canadian Hot 100 in 2007. History In the 1960s, the Canadian music industry was disparate and regionally focused, and English-speaking Canadian artists were often overlooked in favour of American acts. To encourage a more national focus and ensure that domestic artists were promoted across Canada, the Maple Leaf System (MLS) was set up in 1969. Gia Metric (born April 16, 1992) is the stage name of Giorgio Triberio, a Canadian drag performer most known for competing on the second season of ''Canada's Drag Race''. Early life Triberio was born in Toronto, Ontario. Career Gia Metric began her drag career in Toronto. By 2018, she was performing at The Junction's weekly drag showcase in Vancouver, along with Kendall Gender and Synthia Kiss. She was named Vancouver's Entertainer of the Year in 2016, and Vancouver's Next Drag Superstar in 2018.
