Beerzel
Beerzel () is a Belgian village in Antwerp Province and a deelgemeente of the municipality Putte. Beerzel was a municipality until 1977, at which time it had an area of with 4,971 inhabitants in 1995. At , Antwerp's highest point—the ''Beerzelberg''—is located in Beerzel. History Pottery from the early Bronze age had been discovered in Beerzel. The village was first mentioned as Barsale in 1151. Until the World War I, a large beech was located at the top of the Beerzelberg. Beerzel was an independent municipality until 1977 when it merged into Putte. Putte
Putte () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality includes the towns of Putte, Beerzel, and the hamlets and . The town of Putte is around east of Mechelen. In 2021, Putte had a total population of 18,109. The total area is 34.96 km2. With an altitude of , the ''Beerzelberg'' in Beerzel is the highest point of the Antwerp province. Putte should not be confused with the homonymous municipality in the region of Kempen, split by the border into Putte, Netherlands and Putte, Kapellen. The Kingdom of Belgium is divided into three regions. Two of these regions, Flanders and Wallonia, are each subdivided into five provinces. The third region, Brussels, does not belong to any province and nor is it subdivided into provinces.
