Beef (band)
Beef was a Dutch band. While generally classified as reggae, their music combined many different styles. History Beef was formed out of an underground radio show called "The Chop Shop" in 1999. Their early recordings, released only on cassettes (the 1.1Gr.Fm Sessions), have become collector items. The same holds for the 10 inch EP release ''Babylon by Beef'' (Drunken Maria, 1999). After the first full studio album, entitled ''Flexodus'' (Partners in Crime, 1999), record company PIAS picked up on the buzz, signed the band and had them record their self-titled second album in England. Under productional leadership of singer Bitty McLean, "Beef!" was created. "Late Night Sessions", the first single from the album, became a big hit. In 2002, the band was invited to the Nuit Tipique festival in Burkina Faso. Jacqueline Govaert
Jacqueline Govaert (; born 20 April 1982) is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and pianist. She is best known as the leader of Dutch band Krezip. After Krezip disbanded in 2009, Govaert started a solo music career. She released her debut album ''Good Life'' in August 2010. Musical career Krezip Govaert wrote her first songs on the piano at age 12. She graduated from the Dutch Rockacademy in Tilburg. Prior to that, she had started the band Krezip in high school. The band released their first EP in 1999; it was an independent release. In 2000, the band was signed by Warner Music and played at Lowlands and Pinkpop. Krezip
Krezip is a Dutch pop, rock, and alternative music band from Tilburg, Netherlands, formed in 1997. Krezip's members formed a cover band while in the midst of highschool, and were still remarkably young when they broke through, playing all original songs, at the nationally televised Pinkpop festival, in 2000. The band has since had several successful albums and numerous hit singles in the Netherlands, as well as live success, playing at festivals in Belgium and Germany. The band has four consistent core members, centered around front woman, lead singer and song writer Jacqueline Govaert. Control Arms
The Control Arms Coalition is a campaign jointly run by a coalition of over 100 organisations including Amnesty International, IANSA, Oxfam International and Saferworld. The campaign has been active since 2003 in calling for an international Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The campaign began due to the lack of regulation in the international trade in arms. Control Arms has argued that the lack of controls on the arms trade is fuelling armed conflict, poverty and human rights abuses worldwide. Even though existing treaties and pieces of international law exist that focus on the international arms trade, none of them, before the Arms Trade Treaty, were legally binding and fully international. Urban Dance Squad was a Dutch rap rock band formed after what was originally intended as a one-time jam-session at a festival in Utrecht on December 20, 1986. The band consisted of a guitarist, bassist, drummer, rapper, and DJ. Urban Dance Squad was one of the most successful Dutch bands of the nineties, releasing five studio albums. Zilveren Harp
The Zilveren Harp (Silver Harp) is a Dutch award given annually to promising musical talent. The award is very prestigious and winners are chosen by a different jury each year. The Zilveren Harp is given by the foundation "Buma Cultuur", which aims to promote Dutch music. The first award was given in 1969, and it has been presented every year since (except for the year 1972). Buma Cultuur also presents the Gouden Harp award, which is given to an artist for his entire oeuvre and Buma Export Award for acts which are successful abroad.
