Beechmont Country Club
Beechmont Country Club is a golfing country club located in Orange, Ohio, USA, located approximately east of downtown Cleveland. This golf club hosted PGA events such as the 1963 and 1971 Cleveland Open. The course, designed by Stanley Thompson, was opened in 1923 and is regarded as among the most difficult courses in northeast Ohio. Par is 71. History Beechmont Country Club was founded in 1923 by a group of amateur golfers from Cleveland. They purchased of land covered in trees, and gave Thompson the opportunity to design the course. One interesting aspect of the course is that water comes into play on 7 of the 18 holes. The club also contains an indoor and outdoor tennis facility, an outdoor swimming pool, a summer camp for children, workout facilities, and locker rooms for both men and women members. Orange, Ohio
Orange Village is a village in Cuyahoga County and an affluent eastern suburb of the Greater Cleveland area in the US state of Ohio. The population was 3,323 at the 2010 census. History Orange Township was settled in 1815 and established as a township in 1820. As part of the settlement of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Serenus Bumett was the first settler in the township. The name "Orange" was chosen because several of the early settlers had migrated from Orange, Connecticut. In 1831, Orange Township was the birthplace of President James A. Garfield. The ''Mail Tribune'' is a seven-day daily newspaper based in Medford, Oregon, United States that serves Jackson County, Oregon, and adjacent areas of Josephine County, Oregon and northern California. Stanley Thompson
Stanley Thompson (September 18, 1893 – January 4, 1953) was a Canadian golf course architect, and a high-standard amateur golfer. He was a co-founder of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Early life, family, education, and military service Stanley Thompson was born in Toronto, as the seventh of nine surviving children, of parents James and Jeannie Thompson, who had married in Middlebie, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland in 1880, and emigrated to Canada in June 1882. His father worked for the Grand Trunk Railway, which built a large depot in east-end Toronto. Stanley and his four brothers Nicol (1880–1957), Mathew (1885–1955), William J.
