Bedrock Records
Bedrock Records is an English record label for trance, progressive house and techno started by Nick Muir and John Digweed. Its name comes from a long running and successful club night held in Hastings and also at Heaven nightclub, London - both also called Bedrock. Bedrock Records has released many singles from artists such as Astro & Glyde, Brancaccio & Aisher, Steve Lawler, Shmuel Flash, Steve Porter, Sahar Z, Guy J, Henry Saiz, Stelios Vassiloudis, Electric Rescue, The Japanese Popstars and Jerry Bonham. Bedrock is also the name that Digweed and Muir use as their production moniker. Bedrock has had different imprints: Bedrock Breaks, B_Rock and Black (Bedrock). Currently it has Bedrock Digital and one called Lost & Found belonging to Guy J. The first Bedrock album compiled and mixed by John Digweed was released in 1999, containing several tracks signed to the Bedrock label. John Digweed
Thomas John Digweed (born 1 January 1967) is a British DJ and record producer. ''DJ Magazine'' voted him World No 1 DJ in 2001. As well as achieving success as a solo act, he has collaborated with Sasha as Sasha & John Digweed, and with Nick Muir as Bedrock. Biography Digweed began DJing at the age of 15, and made a name for himself in his home town of Hastings, where he put on successful club nights, the most famous of which were his successful raves on Hastings Pier, where the likes of Carl Cox and The Prodigy performed. His breakthrough came in 1993, when he sent a mixtape demo to Geoff Oakes, founder of the Renaissance nightclub in Mansfield, who played it to fellow DJ Alexander Coe (aka Sasha). The two DJs struck up a long-term friendship and working relationship, despite Sasha twice failing to turn up for gigs that Digweed had booked him for in Hastings. Shmuel Flash
The Flash Brothers are a group of Israeli brothers who produce electronic music, mostly house or progressive trance. The group consists of Ruven, Ilan, and Shmuel Flaishler. They have featured releases on labels such as Hooj Choons, Silver Planet, and Bedrock Records. Trance is a state of semi-consciousness in which a person is not self-aware and is either altogether unresponsive to external stimuli (but nevertheless capable of pursuing and realizing an aim) or is selectively responsive in following the directions of the person (if any) who has induced the trance. Bedrock (also known as John Digweed & Nick Muir) are a British electronic dance music duo comprising John Digweed and Nick Muir. Biography They produced the singles "For What You Dream Of" (1993, featured in ''Trainspotting''), "Set in Stone" / "Forbidden Zone" (1997), "Heaven Scent" (1999) (featured in the film ''Groove'') and "Voices" (2000), all of which reached the UK Singles Chart. More recently they released the ''Beautiful Strange'' EP in 2001, "Emerald" in 2002, "Forge" in 2003 and "Santiago" in 2005. They have also remixed the work of artists such as Humate, New Order, Way Out West, Evolution, Satoshi Tomiie, the Orb and Underworld. In 1999, the duo founded Bedrock Records. The Japanese Popstars are an Irish electronic group from Northern Ireland consisting of Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue (with former founding member and keyboardist Declan McLaughlin). Each member has his own alias. The act was nominated for "Best House DJs" at the 2006 World Urban Music Awards, "Best Live Performance" at the 2007 Northern Ireland Music Awards and won "Best Live Act" at the 2008 Irish Music Awards and then every year since (four years in a row). Henry Saiz
Henry Saiz is a Spanish electronic DJ, musician and music producer. Saiz' first productions were released through the Global Underground and Paradigma Musik imprints. His remix of ''Lamur'' by Guy J, released on the Bedrock label, was produced in 2009 after he came to the attention of John Digweed, one of the label's founders. Renaissance Recordings then commissioned the releases of his EPs ''Artificial Paradises'' and ''Madre Noche'' in 2009 and ''The Rider'' in 2010. He produced the Balance 019 compilation, released on June 10, 2011, and has his own record label, Natura Sonoris, which serves as a platform for his own productions as well as those of new artists. Guy J
Guy Judah (born ), known by his stage name Guy J, is an Israeli progressive house, techno and Electro (music), electro music producer and Disc jockey, DJ who has released three albums and over 15 EPs since 2008. His recordings are noted for their diverse and wide range of musical styles, while his DJ work is known for creating immersive "journey-like" live shows. In July 2012, he founded the Imprint (trade name), imprint record label Lost & Found, supported by the British DJ and producer John Digweed. Lost & Found serves as a vehicle both for his own work, and for producers he admires, including Sahar Z, Nick Muir, Roy Rosenfeld and Jamie Stevens. Steve Porter (producer)
Steve Porter (born 1978) is an American music video producer, remixer and DJ originally from Amherst, Massachusetts. He is best known for his pop-culture mashup remixes and studio work as a progressive house producer. Porter began producing music while attending Williston Northampton School, and was discovered by Chris Fortier in 1999, when he was signed to Fortier's Fade Records. Since that time, he has toured as a DJ and has released remixes and original music. In 2009, Porter placed second in the ''DJ Times'' "America's Best DJ" poll. In the same year, Porter founded Porterhouse Media, an audio/visual marketing company that creates viral videos.
