''Bedrock'' is a DJ mix album produced by John Digweed. It was released in the United Kingdom on INCredible and in the United States on Ultra Records. The album was based on the music Digweed would play at the long running and successful club night, Bedrock. At the time of the album's release the club night was held at Heaven, London and The Beach, Brighton. John Digweed
Thomas John Digweed (born 1 January 1967) is a British DJ and record producer. ''DJ Magazine'' voted him World No 1 DJ in 2001. As well as achieving success as a solo act, he has collaborated with Sasha as Sasha & John Digweed, and with Nick Muir as Bedrock. Biography Digweed began DJing at the age of 15, and made a name for himself in his home town of Hastings, where he put on successful club nights, the most famous of which were his successful raves on Hastings Pier, where the likes of Carl Cox and The Prodigy performed. His breakthrough came in 1993, when he sent a mixtape demo to Geoff Oakes, founder of the Renaissance nightclub in Mansfield, who played it to fellow DJ Alexander Coe (aka Sasha). The two DJs struck up a long-term friendship and working relationship, despite Sasha twice failing to turn up for gigs that Digweed had booked him for in Hastings. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Slacker (producer)
Slacker, whose real name was Shem McCauley, was a British electronic music house, hip hop and R&B producer. He owned Jukebox in the Sky record label. He was also known under the names "Head Honcho", "Ramp" "Live It!" and "DJ Streets Ahead". Slacker, who was based in England, had released records on many labels including XL Recordings, Loaded Records, and Perfecto Records. Shem McCauley died in Bangkok, Thailand, in January 2012. Sandra Collins
Sandra Collins is an American DJ, record producer, and remixer. Biography Collins got her start on the West Coast of the U.S. in Phoenix, Arizona and then moved into residencies in Los Angeles, and eventually moved towards trance. She used American producers to give herself a unique sound. Collins performed for an estimated 80,000 people on the first night of Woodstock '99, and was the first female DJ featured in the influential ''Tranceport'' recording series. She has released two CD mixes under Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label. Collins was the focus of a 2013 documentary, ''Girl'', highlighting female DJs in EDM subculture. Bedrock (also known as John Digweed & Nick Muir) are a British electronic dance music duo comprising John Digweed and Nick Muir. Biography They produced the singles "For What You Dream Of" (1993, featured in ''Trainspotting''), "Set in Stone" / "Forbidden Zone" (1997), "Heaven Scent" (1999) (featured in the film ''Groove'') and "Voices" (2000), all of which reached the UK Singles Chart. More recently they released the ''Beautiful Strange'' EP in 2001, "Emerald" in 2002, "Forge" in 2003 and "Santiago" in 2005. They have also remixed the work of artists such as Humate, New Order, Way Out West, Evolution, Satoshi Tomiie, the Orb and Underworld. In 1999, the duo founded Bedrock Records. Pete Heller is an English electronic and house music producer from Brighton, England. Biography He is recognised in the dance community for his solo work, and his remixes with frequent collaborator Terry Farley. As a duo, they have released popular tunes under the names Heller & Farley Project (or Farley & Heller), Fire Island plus The Look and Feel. In 1996, they released "Ultra Flava", a No. 3 hit on the US '' Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The track also peaked at No. 22 on the UK Singles Chart. Richard Morel is an American singer-songwriter, DJ, remixer and record producer from the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. He has worked extensively with Washington D.C.-based duo Deep Dish, co-writing, co-producing, performing and singing on many of their tracks, most notably on their albums ''Junk Science'' and ''George Is On''. Danny Howells (born 24 November 1970) is an English producer and DJ. His music is often described as progressive house, though he prefers to associate more with tech house and is sometimes described simply as "deepsexyfuturistictechfunkouse". Heaven (nightclub)
Heaven is a superclub in Charing Cross, London, England. It has a long association with London's LGBT scene and is home to long-running gay night G-A-Y. The club is known for Paul Oakenfold's acid house events in the 1980s, the underground nightclub festival Megatripolis, and for being the birthplace of ambient house. Soundshaft also hosted Future, a regular night on Thursdays run by Andrew Weatherall and Terry Farley. At the end of the night, both crowds would come together when the doors connecting Heaven & Future opened for the last couple of songs. History Beginnings Heaven was opened in December 1979 by Jeremy Norman in a former night club called Global Village, which was housed in the arches beneath Charing Cross railway station, once part of Adelphi Arches, a large wine-cellar for the hotel above.
