Bective Rangers Football Club is a rugby union club in Dublin, Ireland founded in 1881. The Club is affiliated to the Leinster Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union and play in Division 1A of the Leinster League. The club plays its games at the Donnybrook Rugby Ground in Donnybrook with a second grounds at Glenamuck. The Club fields teams from Mini's, Youth, U20's Juniors, Senior and Vets. Irish Rugby Football Union
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) ( ga, Cumann Rugbaí na hÉireann) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland (both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). The IRFU has its head office at 10/12 Lansdowne Road and home ground at Aviva Stadium, where adult men's Irish rugby union international matches are played. In addition, the Union also owns the Ravenhill Stadium in Belfast, Thomond Park in Limerick and a number of grounds in provincial areas that have been rented to clubs. History Initially, there were two unions: the Irish Football Union, which had jurisdiction over clubs in Leinster, Munster and parts of Ulster and was founded in December 1874, and the Northern Football Union of Ireland, which controlled the Belfast area and was founded in January 1875. Joe Nolan
Joseph William Nolan (born May 12, 1951) is an American former professional baseball catcher, who played for the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). Minor Leagues Selected in the second round of the 1969 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets, he turned down a football scholarship at the University of Missouri to sign with the Mets. Louis Magee
Aloysius Mary "Louis" Magee (1 May 1874 – 4 April 1945) was an Irish rugby union halfback. Magee played club rugby for Bective Rangers and London Irish and played international rugby for Ireland and was part of the British Isles team in their 1896 tour of South Africa. Magee was capped 27 times for Ireland, ten as captain, and won two Championships, leading Ireland to a Triple Crown win in the 1899 Home Nations Championship. Magee was one of the outstanding half backs of world rugby prior to 1914, and is credited as being a driving force in turning Ireland from a no-hope team into one that commanded respect.Godwin (1984), pg 75. Harry Anthony Hall Williams (born 1 October 1991) is an English professional rugby union player who plays as a tight-head prop for Top 14 side Montpellier. At International level, Williams made his England debut against Argentina on 10 June 2017. Early life Williams was born on 1 October 1991 and grew up in Crystal Palace in South London, where his father worked as a bricklayer and his mother as a landscape gardener. He attended Whitgift School in Croydon along with fellow professional rugby players Elliot Daly and Marland Yarde. Mike Ruddock
Mike Ruddock, OBE (born 5 September 1959) is a Welsh rugby union coach who is currently an interim consultant for Ospreys, having previously coached Lansdowne FC . Ruddock was the Director of Rugby at the Worcester Warriors until his resignation on 28 April 2010. He was the coach of the Welsh national rugby union team from 2004 until February 2006 and Leinster Coach from 1997 to 2000. He is the father of 3 children. Irish rugby union international Rhys Ruddock, Ciaran Ruddock and Katie Ruddock. Playing career Ruddock was born in Blaina, and played in the back row for his local team, Blaina. Paddy O'Donoghue (rugby)
Paddy O'Donoghue is a former Irish rugby international prop who also represented the Barbarians and was an administrator in Irish rugby. He was educated at CBC Dún Laoghaire (now CBC Monkstown). He played his club rugby for Bective Rangers, winning the Leinster Club Senior Cup in 1955 and 1956. During this time the club was notable for Welsh international Cliff Morgan who lined out at fly half, the club was nicknamed 'Morgan's Rangers' due to his influence. O'Donoghue also played with IRFU president John Lyons, along with internationals Maurice Mortell, Fergus Keogh, Gerry Hardy, Paddy Costello and Bill Mulcahy. O'Donoghue won eleven caps for Ireland between 1955 and 1958, making his debut versus France. Following his retirement, he coached at various levels including his former club. Cliff Morgan
Clifford Isaac Morgan, (7 April 1930 – 29 August 2013) was a Welsh rugby union player who played for Cardiff RFC and earned 29 caps for Wales between 1951 and 1958. After his playing career ended, Morgan made a successful career in broadcasting, both as a commentator and presenter and also as a programme-maker and BBC executive. Rugby career Morgan, born in Trebanog in the Rhondda valley, was from a mining family and joined Cardiff Rugby Club straight from Tonyrefail Grammar School in 1949, playing at fly-half. Blessed with natural balance and strength, together with an astute line-kicking ability and searing acceleration, he quickly made an impact. Trevor Brennan
Trevor Brennan (born 29 September 1973) is an Irish former rugby union player. He played for Barnhall, Bective Rangers, St Marys College RFC, Leinster, Stade Toulousain and Ireland, being capped 13 times. He played either in the second row or as a flanker. In 2007 he attacked a fan and was banned for life, later reduced to five years. Career Born in Leixlip, Ireland, Brennan began his career with Barnhall. He captained St Mary's College RFC to their first AIB League title in 2000. Brennan made his debut for the senior Ireland team in a 13-37 defeat against South Africa on 13 June 1998 and went on to make 13 test appearances, including the 1999 Rugby World Cup. During this tournament that Brennan's abrasive image was tested, after a fight with Australia's Toutai Kefu, who was aided by two teammates who held Brennan's arms back.
