Beaulieu International Group
Beaulieu International Group is a Belgian textile manufacturing company, with its head office located in Waregem, a region of West Flanders which is known for its textile industry. History The company was founded as ''Beaulieu'' in 1959 by Roger De Clerck as a fabric production business. Between 1959 and 1991 Beaulieu expanded and grew into a vertical integrated company. In 1991 the company was split-up in seven parts between Roger De Clerck and his six children. Roger De Clerck remained in charge of raw materials. Between 1991 and 2005 the changing market conditions led to an overcapacity in the European textile industry and growing international competition. Finally in 2005 five of the seven branches of the Beaulieu Group merged and became the Beaulieu International Group. Waregem
Waregem (; vls, Woaregem), sometimes known as Waereghem, is a municipality and city located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality lies in the valley of the river Leie, between Kortrijk and Ghent. It is part of the arrondissement of Kortrijk and comprises the towns of Beveren, Desselgem, Sint-Eloois-Vijve and Waregem proper. On January 1, 2019, Waregem had a total population of 38,260. Roger De Clerck
Roger De Clerck (July 27, 1924 – October 23, 2015) was a Belgian entrepreneur and CEO of the Beaulieu textile group. An international business man, his family was ranked 15th place in a list of "richest Belgians". During his lifetime he was controversial due to a series of scandals where he and his company were accused of fiscal fraud. Biography De Clerck born in Wielsbeke, the second son of a flax farmer who owned a large farm, "Ter Lembeek" there. His two brothers became priests. He was a nephew of minister (father of politician Stefaan De Clerck) and the brother of Thérèse De Clerck, wife of , founder of Roularta. In 1951, De Clerck married Anne-Marie Hanssens from Gullegem. In normal circumstances he would have taken over his father's farm, but the flax market collapsed around this time and he was forced to look for another source of income. Carl Bouckaert
Carl Bouckaert (born 19 April 1954) is a Belgian equestrian and businessman. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the Individual eventing. He also competed in the Belgian Olympic team during the Sydney Olympics in 2000. A native of Belgium, Carl Bouckaert studied engineering at Louvain University. In 1977 he began working at Beaulieu Group of Companies in Belgium. In 1978 Carl moved to the USA and co-founded Beaulieu of America in Dalton, Georgia. Under his leadership, this small rug weaving operation grew into what was once the world’s third largest (and largest privately held) carpet manufacturer. Beaulieu of America declared bankruptcy on July 17, 2017 and, after the company's reorganization efforts failed, Beaulieu of America's assets were acquired by Engineered Floors in a deal announced on September 20, 2017.
